The 2016 Principean presidential election was held on 31 December 2016. This was the first election since the founding of the new Catholic Republic of Principe. Raphaël Olivier won the election without opposition.
Aftermath
After the presidential election, Principe fell into a period of inactivity. In 2017, Principe adopted a parliamentary system.
