Article style

Articles should be written in the following style, in order to improve readability and create a standardized appearance for all Aethodian content.

Example
[[Category:Aethodia]]
{{Summary Template}}
This is where the introduction text will go!
{{TOC limit|3}}

== This is an example of a header ==

Specifics
  • Like with the rest of this wiki, titles must be written in sentence case. This means there is no more capitalization in a title that there is in a typical sentence.
  • Notice how Template:TOC limit is used and set to three. This should be done on every Aethodian article to prevent ToC bloat.
  • There should be no empty newlines between the categories, the intro paragraph, and the TOC.
  • Any header which contains a subheader should itself be blank, but this rule is not hard-and-fast.
  • No header may have only one subheader. In this case, the subheader should replace the header.
  • Note that there is one space between the bars on either side and the header's text.
  • Note that there is exactly one empty newline before each header
  • Note that there is no space between the header and any image or template that affects the whole section, but there is before the beginning of the body text.
  • Note that each paragraph of the body text has an empty newline before and after it.
  • It is important that the "#" character is not used in headers, or the ToC may break.
  • It is important to not linkify headers or to place files into headers.
  • Bullets (*), indents (:), and mini-headers (;) all require a space between them and their content.
  • Double quotes (") are to be preferred over single quotes.
  • All Aethodian articles should have Template:Aethodia navbox at the end of their "See also" section.
  • All references should use Template:Aethodian reference.[1]
  • When several sources act as a single reference, they should go into a single <ref/> tag, with each source having its own bullet point (*) and Template:Aethodian reference.
  • When a source needs to be referenced twice, include the name="NAME" attribute in each instance, and only define the contents of the <ref/> on the first instance.

Notes

  1. Wikipedia isn't too picky about the format used in citations, only that a consistent citation format be used throughout any one article, and that citations contain certain information.
