The State of Aleutia, more commonly known as Aleutia, is a socialist nation located in North America, specifically in the Andreanof Archipelago of the Aleutian Islands; surrounded by the Bering Sea and Pacific Ocean. Aleutia consists of the islands Kanaga and Tanaga. Totalling a land area of around 900 kilometres squared, it is the 172nd largest country in the world by land area. The State of Aleutia was formed on the 15th October 2022, succeeding the Aleutian Federation and The Republic of Aleutia (proclaimed as illegitimate holders of the Aleutian identity). The country is not recognised by any member of the United Nations or other governmental/non-governmental organisations, resulting in Aleutia being classified as a "micronation" to outside bodies. The country has a Subarctic climate (Dfc according to the Köppen climate classification). Aleutia shares it's only border (maritime) with the United States of America. Historically the territories of Aleutia have for the most part, been uninhabited, however Tanaga Island was established as Navy emergency landing field in July of 1943: a runway, pier, moor, office and storage buildings, radio building, galley and mess facilities and a galley were constructed by the Seabees of Naval Construction Battalion 45 of the United States Navy. The site was abandoned only two years later and noone has inhabited the island since. Several cabins and Aleut villages are present on nautical charts of the island.
Etymology:
The name Aleutia originates from the "Aleutian Islands" (Unangam Tanangin) known before 1867 as the Catherine Archipelago, consisting of islands majorly controlled by the United States of America and The Russian Federation.
Government Structure:
The country is led by the ruling party, the Workers’ Front, of which Renn Hara is the General Secretary of. The State legislature is called the People's Assembly. Deputies are elected every 5 years to represent their constituents in their relevant province of Aleutia.
History:
"The State of Aleutia" was proclaimed and established on 15th October 2022 as a sovereign state succeeding the Aleutian Federation and The Republic of Aleutia. (est. 4 May 2021.) The country recognises 25th February of each year as the "National Formation Day" This is to commemorate the first nation founded on Aleutian soil.
