His Grace Lord Sir Alexander Christian Olivier "Al" Helliker, 2nd Archduke of South Adammia KCM KOV KOF KD LLB is an Adammic politician, lawyer and noble who formerly served as the fourth Prime Minister of the Empire of Adammia, and is currently the Attorney General and the Archduke of South Adammia. He was also formerly the Minister of Defence and Minister of Finance at various points in his career.
Helliker has been involved in Adammia for a long time, as one of the earliest citizens. His experience as a law student has made him one of Adammia's leading legal experts, and he is the Emperor's official legal advisor. He assumed the leadership of the Moderate Party in 2017 and subsequently became Prime Minister. After a year in office, he lost the 2018 election and became Leader of the Opposition as leader of the Liberal-Moderate Party. In September 2019, he defected to the Storm Party, and failed to be elected to the House of Citizens. In 2020, he joined the new Independent Party and was elected to the House. He subsequently joined the Second Saunders Cabinet as Minister of Defence.
Non-micronational life
Alex Helliker is a law graduate of the University of Birmingham.
Micronational career
Helliker was notably the first person to become a citizen of the Empire of Adammia after Emperor Adam himself, being granted citizenship on 14 April 2013, the day after Adammia was founded. As the only other citizen at the time, he "ratified" the original Supreme Directive on 19 April 2013. As an online friend of the Emperor, Helliker was a member of the highly-trusted Ordo Vladius. After coincidentally arriving to study at the same university as the Emperor, Helliker was first appointed the Emperor's legal advisor in November 2016. Helliker and the Emperor later decided to become housemates, renting a house which is now known as Serkatia. On 28 October 2017, the Empire of Adammia Act 2017 gave Helliker a seat on the Ruling Council, and he was invited to serve in the provisional Cabinet for three weeks until elections could be held, acting as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance. Soon afterwards, he joined the Moderate Party and took over as the party's president after Emperor Mother Jayne Belcher stepped down from the role.
In the November 2017 local elections, Helliker was elected Councilor of Serkatia, and his original seat as Duke was given to Colonel Sir Zak Maguire. He was compensated by being appointed Archduke of South Adammia. He then stood in the November 2017 National Election and won, becoming Prime Minister.
In February 2018, Helliker became the first person in Adammia to become a member of two chivalric orders, as a member of both the Ordo Vladius and the Order of the Meerkat. In June 2018, he appointed himself as Minister of Defence. In July 2018, he was appointed as the Empire's first Attorney General.
In October 2018, Helliker ran for re-election to a second term as Prime Minister, but lost by a landslide to Sir Juliano Saunders of the Storm Party. He then became the Leader of the Opposition. Helliker's year-long term in this position was one of inactivity, with some believing that he had lost interest in Adammic politics, and he stood aside as leader of his party in August 2019 in favour of Sir Charles Michael.
Helliker returned to the forefront of Adammic politics in September 2019, when he sided with Storm leader Lady Worthington on a cross-party basis in her accusations against the Emperor as part of the data privacy scandal. On 19 September, Helliker published the Helliker Report in his capacity as Attorney General, accusing the Emperor of violating the GDPR Compliance Act 2018 and committing criminal negligence, before defecting to the Storm Party. The Emperor subsequently resigned as Cabinet Secretary.
Helliker stood at the #4 position on the Storm list, and was not elected. During VIII Legislature he was the de-facto Leader of the Opposition in the Ruling Council, though he was largely inactive during this term. In September 2020, he joined the Independent Party alongside Lord Saunders and Lord Maude, and stood at the #3 position on the party's list and was elected to the House, subsequently becoming Minister of Defence for a second time. As Attorney General, he prosecuted Adammia's first legal case, I v. Thompson.
By 2021, he had become highly inactive and did not stand in the 2021 general election. He is now generally considered to have retired as a politician, though he remains Attorney General.
