The Alternate Prime Minister of Richensland, officially the Alternate Prime Minister of the Most Serene Republic of Richensland, was a cabinet position established in Richensland. It was established not to rotate governments in a political alliance but to "delay the prime ministerial line of succession" in the case of death or resignation of the previous prime minister. As Richensland's prime ministerial office was hereditary, the title would pass down to eligible members of the House of Richensland. There were at the time of the dissolution of the premiership two eligible members in the line of succession and as a result of fear of running out of heirs, the position of alternate prime minister was established so that the alternate can inherit the prime ministership for interim periods of time and thus, making the line of succession last longer.

The office was held by Tizian Aruna since its creation on 6 September 2021. Previously, the office had been vacant. The office was abolished on 22 November 2021, long after the President was made head of state and government.

The alternate prime minister was appointed by the prime minister when he has already inherited the office. There were no term limits to the office. Alternate prime ministers only become prime minister after the death or resignation of the previous prime minister. Meanwhile, the Deputy Prime Minister only served as acting prime minister during the transition of power. If there was no alternate prime minister, the deputy prime minister became the succeeding prime minister. It was common for the alternate prime minister to have never become the actual prime minister.

Roles

The alternate prime minister was not the alternate of any other of the prime minister's titles and thus his role was fairly simple. He is not the alternate Chairman of the Monetary Authority but is the alternate First Secretary of the Nationalist Party. While in office, he was also a sitting member of Parliament and cabinet.

Oaths

The alternate prime minister took similar oaths to that of the prime minister. The two oath were the oath of office and oath of secrecy.

The oath of office is as follows:

Oath of office
We, [full name], alternate prime minister-designate, fully ordained by the representatives of the people, assume all powers that of alternate prime minister of Richensland and that I shall execute those powers to the best of my ability with conscience. To the nation, I shall promise to uphold the constitution and the reforms of our founders to the office which I am about to enter. This be my promise.

The oath of secrecy is as follows:

Oath of secrecy
We, [full name], having sworn the oath as alternate prime minister, promise to never leak official secrets entrusted in me in my capacity as alternate prime minister of Richensland. This be my promise.
