Arthur II (Fortaleza, Brazil, 28 January 1998) is King of Ebenthal and Duke of Marienbourg. He was the founder and first King of Roschfallen, Emperor of Sovietia, and Regent of Achsen. He served as Secretary-General of the Conference of Santiago and is Chairman of the Volkhaus of the Nuremberg Commune.[1] Born in Fortaleza, Brazil, he is the fourth of six children and only son of Armando, 5th Baron of Roches, head of the Portuguese baronial House of Bruyn,[2] and his second wife Marília Carvalho. He is also a micronational theorist being the creator of the Nomadic Micronation Theory. Engaged and childless, his apparent heir is his second nephew through his older sister, Heitor, Prince Royal. A prestigious micronational royal, in 2020 he joined the select Micropolitan Club and Lounge.
In 2014 Arthur founded the Kingdom of Roschfallen as its first monarch. During his almost six years of reign, the country moved away from simulationism to secessionism and, despite having grown in recognition, it experienced years of political instability. Facing a deep political crisis, in June 2019 Arthur performed a coup d'état suspending the constitution and the parliament and turning Roschfallen into an absolute monarchy. Ultimatelly, in 29 December 2019, Arthur abdicated the Roschfallenian throne and was succeeded by the country's former High Inquisitor as Fernando I. That same day, Arthur accepted the proposal to become King of Ebenthal. Ever since, his rule have been described as rather centralizer but fair, and Ebenthal has emerged to become one of the most advanced micronations in South America. In 2020 he participated in the formal establishment of the Brazilian sector and was a co-founder of Conference of Santiago, the most important intermicronational organization on the continent. Ever since, he also have exercised a great deal of influence in several South American micronations. From late 2022 to early 2023, wishing to have a micronation of his own creation, Arthur founded the Duchy of Marienbourg.
As a constitutional monarch, Arthur is the symbol of his realms's unity and permanence. Despite his position, he wields considerable political power, and his political influence reaches out to other micronations, being a noble in Sealand, Karnia-Ruthenia, Sildavia and Quinta Velha, a member of the House of Commons of Baustralia, and having been Regent of Schneeblutig, Achsen, the Lateran State, Privy Councillor of Vishwamitra and Chairman of the Nuremberg Commune's parliament, the Volkshaus. A prominent micronationalist in South America, Arthur has been internationally praised for the degree of development he brought to Ebenthal after assuming the throne of that country, and for his professionalism, creativity and character. He is the mastermind of the Conference of Santiago Derivative Program and was also the founder of the Micronational Trade Organization and it is a leading figure in micronational economy.
Biography
Early life
Arthur van der Bruyn[a] was born on 28 January 1998 in Fortaleza, Brazil, as the fourth and only male child of Armando, 5th Baron of Roches, legitimate and direct heir to Portuguese noble title created in 1871 by King Luís I of Portugal, to his second wife, Maria Carvalho Oliveira, from an old Portuguese-originated family of Brazilian farmers from Minas Gerais. Through his father, Arthur is a member of the House of Bruyn, a Portuguese family of Dutch origin which goes back to the nobility and royalty of Scotland, England, Hungary, France, Luxembourg, Holland, among others, through its cognatic connection with the Clan Drummond. He is also great-great-great-great-grandson of King Victor Emmanuel II of Italy through bastard line. Three months after his birth, as his parents had divorced, he moved with his mother to Rio de Janeiro, where her family had been living since 1974.
Education
Arthur began his education at the Nosso Lar school at age of 2 in 2000, staying there until he was three years old. From 3 to 5 years old, he studied at the Montessori Education Center. From there, he remained until the age of 10 in the Abolição School, from where he passed to the Ary Quintella School, where he completed elementary school. After completing the elementary, Arthur studied at the Rezende-Rammel Institute, where he graduated in mechatronics. He is currently studying history at Estácio de Sá University.
Attending English classes since 2004, when he was six yeals old, Arthur is fluent in the language, although he considers himself an autodidact, stating that the school's teachings on English language were very poorly done and claiming he has learned the language from video-games and music. He attended Spanish classes as well, from 2011 to 2014, being fluent due to the ease of similarities with his native Portuguese language. He also claims to understand French, Italian, Galician and Romanian.
Career
A little after having becoming Roschfallen's monarch, Arthur worked as a freelancer, performing mechatronics from his graduation in 2015 until 2016 when he was hired by a commercial enterprise dedicated to decorative articles as a commercial manager, doing the shop's virtual marketing and advertising management and in charge of buying materials. In 2018 Arthur resigned his position a little before the company's closure and went to work as private teacher of history, geography, portuguese and english to five alumni at time until early 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic prevent him from continuing. Nonetheless he was employed as history and geogrpahy assistant teacher at a private college where he previously studied. In early 2021 Arthur was comissioned as a history researcher at the Legislative Assembly of Rio de Janeiro's Department of Culture, writting articles for scientific magazines and being particularly in charge of the Tiradentes Palace's noble room.
Arthur has reportedly affirmed that he intends to follow an academic career, working with political history, likely as a college teacher, and he thinks of entering the politics when he gets older.
Relationship
Since 2015, Arthur has openly identified himself as a gay man and has been also often called cisgender, a label he personally dislike over his personal views on gender duality. He has had two former relationships with two same-aged men and since 2016 he has been dating Guilherme Couto, a bisexual computer technician and former architecture student from Rio de Janeiro, whom he made Prince of Couto, as his formal consort and later Prince Consort of Ebenthal. The couple has been unofficialy engaged, as they both aren't prone to formality, since, at least, 2018. They became officialy bethroted in 2022.
Religious views
Arthur currently identifies as an atheist. Upon his birth, though, he was baptized as a Antiochian Orthodox, due to the fact that both his Roman Catholic father and Umbandist mother were divorced of each other and had previous divorces each one of them, so their children couldn't be baptized in a Roman church. Living with his mother and stepfather, both Umbandist practicioners, Arthur grew heavily influenced by the spiritist dogma and used to some of the Umbanda practices such as spiritual possession and religious offers and frequently accompained his mother in spiritist and umbandist temples at parties.
Some of his mother's umbandist and spiritist influences that Arthur took for life are the belief in reencarnation, fairly common among Brazilians (Brazil holds the larger Spiritist community in the world), as well as the belief in spirits and in a spiritist version of afterlife. Arthur also has been influenced by his family's Catholic backgroud, but, open-minded, while he likes the figure of Jesus Christ, he doesn't recognize him either as the messiah or son of God or as bearer of any kind of supernatural ability. Despite his belief in spirits and afterlife, Arthur has constantly claimed to do not believe in God or "any kind of deity" as said; instead, he often search for some kind of metaphysical and rational explanation for the existence of such things and study physics as a mean to understand the universe and, eventually, reach philosophical conclusions on wether the existence of a god, according to his personal views, is possible or not, and thus why he identifies as an atheist and not as an agnostic.
Citizenship
Having been born in Brazilian soil to Brazilian parents, Arthur is a Brazilian citizen from birth, and enjoying this status, following a common decision by the Mercosur (of which Brazil is a member state), he, as other Brazilian citizens, was granted Mercosur citizenship in 2010, effectively allowing the free circulation in the Mercosur and associated countries. In 2008 Arthur accompained his father to a hotel conference in Barcelona, Spain, passing through Cape Verde and Portugal. As Arthur's father's father was a Portuguese from birth, and thus Arthur and his father were able to acquire Portuguese citizenship according to the the Portuguese citizenship law regarding Brazilians (which concedes citizenship to children and grandchildren of Portuguese naturals born in Brazil). Upon becoming Portuguese citizens, both Arthur and his father, the titular Baron of Roches, also became European citizens.
As founder of the Kingdom of Roschfallen, Arthur holds perpetual Roschfallenian citizen, according to Roschfallenian constitution. He has also been, since 2018, a citizen of Karnia-Ruthenia and formely was a citizen of the Kingdom of the Manso, for a short period of time, relinquishing this citizenship in 2020. From his ascension to the throne of the Kingdom of Ebenthal in 2019, Arthur has been an Ebenthali citizen, and in 2020 he became a citizen of Sovietia, in 2021 of the Hanseatic and Confederate States of Achsen and in 2022 of Vishwamitra, later relinquishing this citizsenship. Arthur's status as a citizen of Sildavia are still uncertain.
King of Roschfallen

Origins
Arthur first engaged on micronationalism in 2014, with the creation of Roschfallen at the NationStates micronational RPG browser game, aided by former friends Adrien Preuss and Alecsander Carvalho. Roschfallen was firstly created as a project of an ideal country, in the form of an empire, where neither were declared monarchs. With Preuss withdrawal, inspired by Sealand, Arthur intended to transform Roschfallen into a real micronationalist project. He proclaimed himself as sovereign Prince of Roschfallen, title changed soon to Grand Duke. To officialize a date for the start of his reign, his birthday, on 28 January, was adopted. He then gathered with a bunch of friends who played NationStates along with him to create the micronation's foundations. On this course of action, a lot of conflict aroused on disagreements either on the future of Roschfallen's structural organization or on Arthur's leadership, and on August that same year Roschfallen faced it's first international conflict and secession with the proclamation of independence of most of Gros Morne as the Kingdom of Ebenthal by one of Arthur's former colleagues and trustees, the Duke of Gallar.[3]
At peace, Arthur envisioned to create a cohesive group of micronationalists based on his NationStates friends, so he brought the Liberal League out of the RPG to the micronationalism as well, thus creating profound ties to nations such as Schneeblutig, Harram, Rubrayev, Znatsnaz and the Arabic Empire.[4] Eventually the latter entered in conflict with Roschfallen due tthe adoption National-Socialist policies and rendering Roschfallenian recognition of that empire as null as commanded by Arthur on his grounds as monarch for personal reasons. For the long of mid-2015 to id-2017, Roschfallen was little active.
Late reign
Eventually, Arthur met the Emperor Oscar I of Karnia-Ruthenia, who inspired and supported him into returning to the micronational activity. He appointed Arthur as Minister of the Imperial and Royal Household of Karnia-Ruthenia.[5] Back in action, Arthur took measures to reorganize the country and started negotiations for the annexation of Roschfallen into the Karno-Ruthenian Empire, which ultimatelly never took place, as the Roschfallenian monarch felt bad of losing even if partial control over his country. He subsequently proclaimed himself Lord and King of Roschfallen, reorganizing the country as a feudal and mostly autocratic monarchy.
In 2017, aiming to increase his status and prestige, Arthur took control of the then defuct Schneeblutigan throne, proclaiming himself Regent of the Empire and claiming the title of Prince Imperial of Schneeblutig for himself on the grounds that he would be the presumptive heir to the legitimate Emperor still to take the throne. In order to fulfill his intent, Arthur started negotiation with the Queen Marina I of Manso to become co-Emperors of Schneeblutig but both eventually gave up as they grew overwhelmed by their own micronations' affairs. Following this, Arthur resigned his office as Minister in the Kingdom of Manso, accepting to become a diplomat and later a senator for the Liberal Party, but ultimatelly resigned all his Mansean offices in order to dedicate himself fully to the Roschfallenian affairs.
During the process of reviving Roschfallen's political activity, Arthur took measures that made him unpopular, such as the feudalization of the country and the increasing centralization of power in his person, thwarting the autonomy mainly of parliament. This situation culminated in July 2019 with a self-coup perpetrated by himself in which he suspended the Roschfallen Constitution, closed the parliament and proclaimed the country an absolute monarchy. His coup, which he justified as a means of maintaining control over the direction of the government in order to ensure the survival of the nation, backfired, and his unpopularity ended up driving away government members who resigned their posts and left the country. Arthur himself displeased with the situation he created and seeking a chance to re-establish himself as a respectable and more mature micronationalist, after being invited by Lord Raphael Sousa, 1st Duke of Sternachten, to assume the throne of Ebenthal after the deposition of King Mateus I in Mateusian Crisis, Arthur abdicated the throne of Roschfallen in his own name and his dynasty on 29 December 2019 and became King of Ebenthal.
Reign in Ebenthal
Early reign
Assuming the throne of Ebenthal under the name of Arthur II, he took oath to the country's constitution and and began a long process of reorganizing the administrative structure and aesthetics of the micronation according to his vision and as had been agreed with the former Regent of Ebenthal, the Duke of Sternachten. The beginning of his reign is described as very centralizing and reformed. Due to his personal connections with heads of state of renowned South American micronations and with micronationalists from beyond the continent, Arthur II established in Ebenthal a new foreign policy, taking the country out of isolationism and bringing it to the center of micronational political actions of the South America, making Ebenthal a great power in the region and establishing its royal home, the House of Bruyn, as one of the most illustrious dynasties of continental micronationalism.
On 23 March 2020 Arthur was one of the original co-signers of the Treaty of Persenburg, probably the most important intermicronational document of micronationalism of Brazilian origin, having been mentioned in an article in the Brazilian mainstream media. The treaty established the secessionist Brazilian sector, removing Ebenthal from the Lusophone sector once and for all. In April of that year, as King of Ebenthal, Arthur II signed the Treaty of Santiago, making Ebenthal one of the founding states of the Conference of Santiago, which grew to become the most influential intermicronational organization on the continent.[6][7] In the wake of his achievements as King of Ebenthal, confirming his intermicronational prestige, Arthur was invited to join the exclusive Micropolitan Club and Lounge.
During the negotiations of the Treaty of Persenburg and as a direct result, there was a split in Brazilian micronationalism between supporters of the treaty and those disaffected with it; this last group was led by Queen Marina I of Manso. On 13 April 2020, in order to try to calm things down, King Arthur II suggested to Queen Marina that a meeting be held between members of the newly founded Conference of Santiago and the Government of Manso so that clarifications could be provided. At the meeting, which took place via virtual hangout, however, both the monarch Manseana and the King of Bauru, who was present, started attacks and offenses against the Conference representatives. After a personal insult by the King of Bauru, the King of Ebenthal abandoned the meeting, causing a diplomatic crisis that was later named Santiago-Mansean Conflict.
Democratic reforms
After a few months on the throne of Ebenthal and having consolidated his position and his mainly aesthetic reforms, King Arthur II began a "second round" of reforms, this time structural, partially giving up his own power, becoming less centralizing (although still substantially centralizing), with the aim of transforming Ebenthal into a democracy. On 29 June 2020 the Moderate Party government headed by the Prime Minister Raphael Sousa fell and in its place the Conservative Party which, in October, was responsible for implementing the October Reform Act, a law whose third article, removing from the monarch the power to freely appoint the speaker of parliament, transferred to his party, had been envisioned by the King Arthur as part of his reform package. On August 2 of that year, King Arthur was responsible for creating the Conferential Doubloon, the official currency of the Conference of Santiago, which became the currency with the greatest intermicronational circulation in the Americas, beginning to the country's "microeconomic" development.
Despite the initial advance, the conservative government sought to stop the reforms proposed by the monarch, not supporting them and postponing them, seeking to maintain the aristocratic hegemony over the government, which initiated the approximation of King Arthur to the leader of the Worker's Party, Lady Gabriela Amorim, 1st Duchess of Frumar, a staunch reformer. On 8 March 2021 his party, in coalition with the Moderate Party, passed the Ebenthali Bicameral Act, which was the main reformist milestone of Arthur II's reign until now, abolishing the exclusivity of aristocrats to assume office. politicians, allowing the political participation of commoners, and creating a democratically elected lower house. This approval not by chance coincided with the appointment by the king of Gabriela as the first female prime minister. However, the monarch's influence on the implementation of the Bicameral Act is questioned by members of the Conservative Party, while it is neither confirmed nor denied by the Worker's and Moderates.
After also giving up the power to freely appoint the Prime Minister among the members of the majority party in the lower house, transferring this competence to the party in power and only officially appointing the Head of Government in a ceremonial category, the last great democratic reform of the reign of Arthur II was through the Federative Act in November 2021 and the controversial Unitary Act in February 2022. The first, passed in the first government headed by a commoner, emerged from the Arthur's desire to politically recognize the fait accompli of the low degree of political activity of half of the Ebenthal principalities by abolishing them. In this same period the King decriminalized the Republican Party that he had criminalized at the beginning of his reign. The latter, however, profoundly threatened the power of the regional aristocracy by abolishing principalities, turning them into provinces, and deposing their princely families. With this King Arthur II hoped to effectively transform the country into a democratic constitutional monarchy, although he still retains great political power and his regime is subsequently categorized as a hybrid regime. This last reform, however, caused a constitutional crisis with separatist threats from the government of New Switzerland, whose absolute monarch, cabinet and citizens refused to accept the deposition of their monarchy, clashing with the central government that was unable to deal with the situation, prompting King Arthur to resolve it personally through private conversation with Antônio I, Prince of New Switzerland, reaching an agreement which was presented to the government in the form of a Royal Decree.
Intermicronational prestige
On 1 August 2020, on Karnia-Ruthenia's Empire' Day, Emperor Oscar I of Karnia-Ruthenia asked Arthur II whether he would prefer a hereditary peerage or receive the Order of the Edelweiss, Karnia-Ruthenia's most prestigious commendation. The Ebenthali monarch and former minister of Karnia-Ruthenia opted for the title and was created Prince of Engern-Tonna.[8] Subsequently Arthur was ennobled with the title of Duke of Damão in Vishwamitra and Duke of Zëgret in Sildavia. The micronational reach of his prestige eventually reached political heights when on 5 January 2021 he was invited to become Regent of the Hanseatic and Confederate States of Achsen and tasked with finding that country a new monarch and organizing its government. The day after his appointment as Regent of Achsen, between 6 and 17 January, Arthur founded the Independent State of the New Southern Rhine as part of the Conference of Santiago Derivative Program, organizing his government and delivering it the noble and politician Ebenthali Jonathan, Marquis of Rozandir, who became re-King of the New Southern Rhine, which was nevertheless kept under Ebenthal's sphere of influence, being seen as a Client State.
Later, on 2 June, Arthur II, along with the Karno-Ruthenian monarch Oscar I, hatched a plan to bring political activity to the Sultanate of Harram, historical ally of Ebenthal and Arthur personally, from when he was King of Roschfallen. That day they deposed Sultan Omar V and installed Prince John of Ebenthal, Arthur's cousin, on the throne of Harram. John's reign as Sultan Hassan III was short, however, as on 8 August of that same year, Arthur and Oscar again intervened in Harram's entire politics by deposing him and installing the former Emir of Takia as Sultan Hassan IV of Harram. Between the end of June and the beginning of August, Arthur, Oscar and the King Fernando I of Roschfallen concluded the Treaty of Viden whereby the Lateran State would become independent from Karnia-Ruthenia under the protection of Ebenthal, Ferdinand would abdicate the throne of Roschfallen and the country would enter the Karno-Ruthenian sphere of influence. Not long after, in October 2021, Arthur left his post as Regent of Achsen with the accession of King Bruno I to the throne of that country.
Secretary-General of the Conference of Santiago
Arthur II was one of the original signatories of the Treaty of Santiago and therefore Ebenthal was one of the founding states of the Conference of Santiago. From the beginning, Arthur aligned Ebenthal's foreign policy with that of the Conference, helping to bring overseas recognition to the organization. The monarch also took the lead in several matters such as the attempt to resolve the conflict with Manso that led to a diplomatic crisis and the creation of the Conferential Doubloon, the organization's official currency and South America's first convertible micronational currency. Arthur was also the mastermind of the Conference of Santiago Derivative Program, the program to help new micronationalists in the creation and management of a secessionist micronation, called in Portuguese a derivatist or derivative.
When the post of Secretary-General of the Conference of Santiago was created and Oscar I of Karnia-Ruthenia was elected as the first occupant of that post, Arthur began to act de facto as his deputy. On 5 January 2022 Arthur was elected Secretary General of the Conference of Santiago and began his term. In the first months of his term, Arthur worked for the expansion of the Conference beyond the South American continent in accordance with the Statute approved in August 2021, which provided for the end of the organization's regionalization. His effort was rewarded with the entry of two Canadian, two American and one Indian micronations. Arthur also worked to increase the intermicronational prestige of the Conference of Santiago and establish relationships with it with other intermicronational organizations of global or regional relevance. He represented the Conference of Santiago in the 2021 ASAM Radiator summit with ASAM and GUM, brought important members of the Micro Francophonie for the Conference and enrolled the Conference in Santiago at MicroCon 2022.[9]
Succession and heir

During the early years of his reign Arthur had to deal with uncertainty about his potential succession. His immediate heir, according to the succession laws in force at the time which included absolute primogeniture, was his elder sister, Princess Élida, who however did not it was involved with micronational activities, despite being aware of its official position. Despite having no intention of abdicating and not experiencing life-threatening health problems, Arthur grew concerned about this situation and, in April 2021, questioned his nephew Prince Heitor, son of Élid who was very interested in matters of geography and history, if he would like to be her heir. Upon hearing the child's positive response, Arthur immediately asked his sister to waive her inheritance rights in favor of her own son, which she promptly did. With Hector becoming Prince of Altenburg and heir apparent to the throne, Arthur initiated him into micronational politics and the boy participates in government events with relative constancy.[10]
Later, however, still concerned about his royal house's lack of dynastic activity and seeking to secure the succession to the throne in his family, in October 2021 King Arthur II issued a Royal Decree amending the succession rules instituting the Semi-Salic Law, by which all men would succeed to the front of women, although they were relevant to ensure the order of succession by primogeniture. The measure was harshly criticized as sexist by the Worker's Party and the Republican Party, but it was justified by the monarch with the disinterest of his sisters and nieces in micronationalism in contrast to the interest of his nephews, and that therefore it would make sense to place them closer in the line of succession.
In an interview with The Altenburg Express Arthur expressed his desire to eventually see his legacy carried on by his family, in the event of not having children, by his nephews. He reaffirmed, however, that he has no plans to step down from the throne, but that there is a secret protocol to be followed should he be forcibly removed from the throne to secure his succession by a member of his family.
Personal views and controversies

Despite theoretically acting as a neutral figure, Arthur is known to be liberal with authoritarian and centralizing tendencies. Politically he is avowedly a social democrat and identifies with the centrism on the political spectrum. He is an avid supporter of personal liberties such as LGBT rights, cannabis legalization, religious freedom associated with secularism and is a strong proponent and advocate of the death penalty. Formerly a supporter of it, Arthur declared that he did not defend unrestricted freedom of speech and freedom of press, claiming that such unchecked freedoms could pose a potential danger to society in the form of spreading disinformation and threats to social order, citing as an example how American law allows for Nazi demonstrations. He also declared that he no longer supports the right to keep and bear arms, although he states that he is inclined to accept the idea as long as there are strict controls and restrictions on the type of weapon, the need to carry it and who can carry it.
In contrast to his defense of religious freedom, Arthur emphasizes the defense of secularism and is openly opposed to ultramontane religious views that harm other individual freedoms and actively works to remove religion from political discussions at home. As King of Ebenthal, Arthur II has outlawed at least two protestant cults and has issued decrees against neo-charismatic protestant denominations whose actions are interpreted as contradicting the same constitutional guarantees of freedom that he, as King, swore to defend on oath (for example, cults protesting the LGBT rights to marry, which are constitutionally guaranteed under Article 132 on civil liberties). This has led to little internal criticism mainly from politician of the Conservative Party from New Switzerland. Some radical catholic groups also does not go unnoticed, having been banned for advocating against individual liberties and civil rights based on their religious values.
King Arthur is constantly identified by his critics, mainly from the Conservative and Republican parties, as being an ally of the Moderate Party and is accused of benefiting it politically to the detriment of the other parties, being politically responsible for the rise of the Moderates in the formation of a broad-front government. As a result, the King is accused of treating the province of Schwarzberg and the Principality of New Switzerland, two provinces historically ruled by the Conservatives, with suspicion and being responsible for their underrepresentation in national politics, being subsequently blamed for hegemony of Altenburg and Belmonte. Alessandro Rosas, President of the Republican Party, accuses the monarch of being extremely centralizing and devaluing the Ebenthali democracy.
Aside of the Ebenthali politics, Arthur is also a staunch monarchist (since 2011) and advocate of the parliamentary model of government, supporter of the restoration of the Brazilian throne to the House of Orléans-Braganza. In 2013 he co-founded the Brazilian Monarchist Blue League (Portuguese: Liga Azul Monarquista Brasileira), a political activist organization based in Rio de Janeiro with cores in Manaus and Fortaleza which acted in close relationship to Prince Antônio of Brazil, brother to the Head of the Brazilian Imperial Family and currently the third on the line of succession to the Brazilian throne,[11] and that he was responsible for the bill for holding a referendum for the restoration of the republic in Brazil, which was submitted to the Federal Senate of Brazil in 2017, having been definitively rejected by the Commission on Human Rights in 2020, after having been analyzed by 36 senators.
Interests and hobbies
Arthur has repeatedly declared his love of history, particularly Brazilian, Portuguese, Iberian and Islamic history, having a degree in history with a specialty in the history of imperial Brazil. In addition, he has a myriad of interests that he pursues as far as possible such as geopolitics, numismatics vexillology, cartography, linguistics, literature, biology, philosophy, physics, astronomy, music and occultism and esoterism, besides being a regular player of online games and RPG. Arthur considers himself a polymath.
In literature, Arthur's favorite author is Howard Philips Lovecraft, an American author in the genre of cosmic horror, which is one of Arthur's favorite literary genres along with com political history, science fiction, fantasy and romance. His favorite book is Bram Stoker's Dracula. Arthur's taste in music changed throughout his life and was heavily influenced by his mother. His favorite music genres include heavy metal, hard rock, metalcore, Brazilian popular music , new-age, old samba and symphonic classical music, your favorite singer being openly Norwegian vocalist Jorn Lande. Arthur is still a big fan of artists like the band Disturbed and the supergroup Ayreon, and singers like w:Loreena McKennitt and Djavan. Since 2011 Arthur has been a player of the RPGs Dungeons and Dragons and Tormenta, occasionally GMing sessions. Also, since 2011, he is an active editor of English Wikipedia.
The son of a Umbandist ceremonial magician mother, despite considering himself irreligious, Arthur developed a deep interest in occult and often studies things related to the occult, shamanism, animism, spiritism and esotericism, while he avoids practicing these arts. According to priests of Umbanda and adherents of Spiritism, including his own mother and paternal grandmother, Arthur is a medium and protected by Omolu, Yorubá deity of disease and healing. In occultism, Arthur considers himself an adept of the left-hand path and has many esoteric objects inherited from his mother with which he intends to learn magical practices in the future.
