The Attorney-General of Aglaria is the chief law enforcement officer of the Government of Aglaria. The attorney general serves as the principal advisor to the President of Aglaria on all legal matters and is a statutory member of the Cabinet of Aglaria.
The attorney-general is supported by the Office of the Attorney General, which includes executive staff.
History
After the presidency, the attorney-generalship is the oldest national office in the Republic of Aglaria. It was established on 26 November 2022.
Presidential Transition
It is the practice for the attorney-general, along with the other Cabinet Ministers and high-level political appointees of the president, to tender a resignation with effect on the Inauguration Day of a new president.
Appointment
The attorney-general is typically appointed by the President of Aglaria. However, nominees can be proposed by the senate and all potential appointees are requited to attain senate approval before appointment.
