The Bank of Athor, officially His Grace's Central Bank of Athor, is the central bank of the Islamic Emirate of Athor. Established in 2022 to act as the Government and nation's primary bank and it is nationally owned.

History

The Bank of Athor was established on 21 December 2022, however had no real use until 29 December 2022 when the national currency was first introduced.

Functions

The two primary function of the bank are maintaining monetary stability and banknote issuance.

Monetary Stability

Stable prices and confidence in the currency are the two main criteria for monetary stability. Maintaining financial stability involves protecting against threats to the whole financial system.

As a national organisation, the bank works together with other institutions to secure both monetary and financial stability, including:

  • Treasury of Athor - The Government Department Responsible for Financial and Economic Policy

Governance

The bank is overseen by the Chief Executive who chairs the board of directors. The chief executive is typically nominated by a senior government official such as the Prime Minister, Treasury Secretary or Paymaster General. The chief executive is then officially appointed by the Monarch.
