The Benereich - Coalition War, was a war in which the Empire of the Benereich, a small micronation in the Tauranga Micronational Area declared war on the three Commonwealth nations who seek territorial claims on Rat Island. The war broke out only five days after peace was made with the Empire of Him.

Originally beginning from the Rat Island Sovereignty Dispute, where the Empire of the Benereich, Ward Empire (with support from the Arstotzkan Union, which was wishing to set up a space on the Island), and the Empire of Him.

After a meeting with the new Secretary General and Chancellor Laika of the Taurstan Anarchist Federation, on 2 November 2022, the First President of the Arstotzkan Union announced the Tauranga Commonwealth of Micronations would not be as involved as in the Commonwealth - Empire War and would form a three nation coalition, known as the Rat Island Protection Coalition.

The war was the first major Post Commonwealth - Empire War conflicts. It is also the shortest war fought by all nations involved. The Benereich - Coalition War also marked the first time the Arstotzkan Navy was deployed but the failure to hold the island following the Benereich retaking of it 15 minutes after the Arstotzkan forces left, marked the worst defeat in Arstotzkan military history and left a humiliating stain on what was the former Tauranga Commonwealth of Micronations Armed Forces grand reputation as well as the Tauranga Allied Micronational Treaty Organization.

Background

Main Article: Rat Island Sovereignty Dispute

On 28 October 2022, the Empire of Benereich formally submitted a Ultimatum to the Secretary General of the Tauranga Commonwealth of Micronations and informed him that the Empire wish to claim sovereignty over the entire island of Rat Island. Not wishing to start another war, the idea was made to form a Commission to decide the division of the island.

The Empire rejected it and on 31 October, declared war on the nations that maintained their claim on the island. In response to this the First President of the Arstotzkan Union formed a coalition of nations to fight their claims to the island.

War

Since the beginning of the war, one noteworthy event has happened.

Emergency Meeting of the GATCM - 2 November 2022.

On 2 November 2022, the First President of the Arstotzkan Union formed an Emergency Session of the GATCM. He announced that war had been declared against the TCM.

I have just received word that the Empire of Benereich, a nation that is absolutely insane has just declared War on us, after trying to take the entire island of Rat Island. The declaration will be posted here.

Benerian Defense of Rat Island

Main Article: Operation: Mousetrap

In a true testament to Benerian military capability, not 15 minutes after the Arstotzkan recapture effort commenced, a deployment of Benerian Naval units was sent out from their local base at Site 67. Included were the brand new Benerian Flame trooper Regiment, escorted by BSOR-1, they entered the island via the south east sector and made their way throughout the entire island. Information supplied by the BSB, they on high alert and eager to catch the Arstotzkan forces midway through their operation but were unsuccessful. Despite this the Benerian forces would make efforts to secure the island. After confirming the island was entirely secured under the Benereich, the Benerian forces would begin to document the region and gather further intelligence for a future defense of the island.

Aftermath

Following the end of the war, not much else occurred on Rat Island. The Empire of the Benereich made it clear to the Commonwealth that their presence on the island will remain. In April 2023, the Arstotzkan Federal Government announced that legal measures would be taken to ensure that sovereignty over the island belonged to the Arstotzkan Union and Ward Empire. On 30 April 2023, the Executive Committee of the Arstotzkan Union and Supreme Senate of the Ward Empire passed the Arstotzkan Territorial Sovereignty Act 2023, which announced that sovereignty of the island belonged to the two nations. Benerian claims of sovereignty over the island were dismissed as illegal and void under international law and the Philosostan Convention 2022.
