Billy of Rushymia

King Billy of Rushymia, also known as Billy I, was the first King of Rushymia, reigning between September to December 1997.

Billy was the second-in-command of Warlord Ferengool, and in September 1996 was appointed to the rank of General, running the Playground in Ferengool's name. When Ferengool attempted to force his Vapourist policy onto the Playground in June 1997, the army deposed him and named Billy the new Warlord, but Billy chose to keep the title of General. Billy began to persecute Vapourism, provoking a rebellion by the Footballers.

Billy planned to invade the Football Pitch to put down the rebellion, but before an attack could be launched, Ferengool approached Billy. He offered to crown him a King with all the authority of the various Vapourist spirits, if Billy would allow the Footballers to be independent and would stop persecuting Vapourism. Billy agreed, and in September 1997 was crowned King of Rushymia in a crowning ceremony in which Ferengool, James, and Alex (a Captain of the Footballers) placed their hands on Billy and declared him King. King Billy immediately claimed that he now had all of Ferengool's Vapourist powers and that he could read minds and control the weather. He ordered Ferengool and James arrested, claiming that they were scheming against him, but Alex escaped the coronation to the Football Pitch. As a King who believed that he had absorbed Ferengool's supposed magical powers through the coronation, Billy became convinced of his own invincibility and started to rule as a tyrant.

King Billy found his population plummeting, and in December 1997 decided to reconquer the Football Pitch to prove to the Rushymians that he was still a capable leader. Alex led the defence of the Footballers, who defeated Billy's army and persuaded them to switch allegiance to Alex. The whole Playground then joined Alex, and marched against Billy, who was defeated and agreed to make Alex the next King.

Alex was crowned King the day after the battle by Billy, James, and Ferengool. All of Billy's titles went to Alex, and Rushymia entered its Golden Age. After Ferengool left the school in July 1999, Alex appointed Billy the new Vizier of Rushymia (Prime Minister) in September of that same year. Some concern was expressed about Alex placing his former enemy in a position of power, but there are no records of any sort of rebellion, and it is presumed that Billy faithfully performed his duties, loyal to Alex, until they both left the school in July 2000.
