The Children of the Meme was a religious split from the Children of the Dank lead by Martin Wareham founded on 18 March 2021. The differences between the Children of the Meme and Children of the Dank were that the Children of the Meme were much more spiritual than the Children of the Dank, believing in ideas such as Reincarnation and Paganism.

The foundation of the group caused the shorted lived Dank Wars, a religious conflict fought in Bertia and the Children of the Meme was followed by, among others, Harrison Bert, former King of Bertia and Dictator Party politician and George Heywood, Vice-Leader of the Dictator Party. Max I of Hilltop also supported them, but was a devout Christian and didn’t become a member.

The climax of the Dank Wars was at the Battle of Middem, where Oscar Thow, Joseph Young and Max I of Hilltop were all injured and a ceasefire was called shortly after. There were initially plans between Martin Wareham and Orin Harley to merge the two groups but talks fell through due to accidental meddling by Max I.

On 16 July, it was announced that the groups would merge into one group accepting of spiritualism.
