In the New Southern Rhine, a Commissioner (Hunsrik: Commissar; Portuguese: Comissário) is an official elected to serve as an adviser and de facto legislator at the Katarinensisch Reichskreis, the national parliament-like advisory body. The commissioners are four, each representing a canton. They are elected through unviersal suffrage in a First-past-the-post to serve a nominally life-long term or until the monarch removes the holding person from office. Elections for the office are called at the discretion of the monarch.

As advisers, commissioners can discuss policies and advise the king on government decisions. As they are not legally legislators, however, they do not vote or pass bills; instead, they present it to the King for his scrutiny.[1]
