Concordian Standard Time (CST) is the official time zone for the Concordian Republic. Officially adopted in early December 2021, the zone is half an hour ahead of Perth time. It's designation in relation to Universal Time is UTC+08:30. This time zone is not currently used by any macronation, and is only used by a few micronations situated in China and Korea.

History

Concordian Standard Time has been a concept of Callum Russell's even prior to the foundation to the Concordian Republic, as part of the 'quirky' units in Novadonia, and later Viridiland. In the Concordian Republic, however, it was designated as the official time in early December 2021. It was not generally adopted, however, until late March 2022. The zone is only used in official Concordian business, as UTC+08:00 (Perth Time) is generally observed in citizens' day to day lives.

Purpose

The seemingly random time actually has a purpose, according to the Concordian Government. Adding half an hour onto the time means that sunlight hours better serve the sleep cycles of Concordian citizens. For example, in late March, the sun would typically rise at 6:20 am, and set at 6:20 pm. In Concordian Standard Time, this is changed to 6:50 am and 6:50 pm, closer to when they fall asleep and wake up. It is not, however, feasible to enforce the time zone in all Concordian citizens, so the government just uses it in official documents. It has also been reported the President of the Concordian Republic personally uses CST.
