Cool Barbie I - Fallen from the Sky, abbreviated as CB.I, is the first episode of Cool Barbie produced by Austenasian Television Productions, a remake of the original Cool Barbie film. It was released on 4 March 2009.

Plot

Bubbles, an alien from Uranus, crash-lands in a garden on Earth during a lightning storm. The following morning, Cool Barbie approaches his crashed spaceship in her car, and Bubbles decides to abduct her and take her back to Uranus as a specimen to make amends for crashing the ship. Managing to fix his ship's weaponry, he fires on Cool Barbie's car. She escapes the vehicle, but is abducted by the spaceship's transmit beam. Bubbles attempts to complete the repairs to his ship, but suddenly comes under attack, and teleports Cool Barbie back outside the ship so that he can focus on defending himself. A battle between Bubbles' ship and Earth military takes place, and when Bubbles attempts to fly out of the atmosphere, a NATO official orders a missile "for space use" fired at the ship, which is blown up.

Continuity notes

  • A caption added to the official YouTube release of the film, as well as external ATP synopses of the film, state that it is set in October 2004, placing it nine months before the events of CB.II in the chronology of the series.
  • The prop used for Bubbles' spaceship was used for the same purpose in the original Cool Barbie film (2005), and is used again for the Uranian General's flagship in CB.VIII (2014).
  • The transmission sent by the soldiers fighting Bubbles is taken from the original episode. As the latter was not converted to a digital format until 2014, the footage was obtained by filming a television screen while it played the original episode.

Production

Production of the episode took only three days, from 28 February to 2 March inclusive. Filming took place in Wrythe Public Park for the confrontation between Bubbles and Cool Barbie, and in the Imperial Residence for the report by the Newsreader. The interior of the NATO base was filmed at Carshalton Methodist Church, whereas the exterior photography for the base was taken at St. George's Hospital.
