The Dibistan (dibi: Ddorti-toci) formerly known as Dirtybiologistan French pronunciation: [dœʁtibajolodʒistɑ̃] (in dibi: Dortibaiolojistani French pronunciation: [dɔrtibajolodʒistani]), is a micronation created by the French youtuber DirtyBiology. The purpose of this micronation is explained on a video of his channel where he explains how the creation of a country takes place.[1]
It has no real territory of its own, but uses instead its flag, which used to be available on the Fouloscopie website[2] but was closed at the end of the experiment. Anyone could create an account on it and thus own his own pixel, whose color could be chosen by anyone in Act One (duration 2 weeks) and any pixel in Act Two (1 week). The language of this country is Dibi, it's almost universally recognized.
History
Dirtybiologistan was created on 1 November 2021 when the youtuber Léo Grasset published his video. After studying the subject for several months, including the case of Kosovo, which he documented in his explanatory video, he therefore set out to create his own virtual micronation.
When the site, hosted by Mehdi Moussaid, went online, it was so popular that it crashed for several hours. This resulted in large white stripes on the flag in what is now the historical heritage. These areas are now called the Crashapagos Archipelago areas.
On 14 November 2021, Léo Grasset took the floor to make an announcement for Dirtybiologistan. It allowed all the dibist to modify all the pixels of the flag. This marked the passage to Act Two. On 21 November 2021, at noon marks the end of the experiment. It's no longer possible to modify the pixels of the flag. Thus, the experiment will have lasted 3 weeks in total. On 5 December 2021, around 7pm, when the experiment had ended 2 weeks ago, it was again possible to get a pixel and to change the pixels of the flag during less than 24 hours. There is no more information about the reason of this event, but the changes made were not saved.
In July 2022, following a highly publicized controversy involving the YouTuber Léo Grasset, several citizens of Dibistan decided to leave the micronation, no longer wishing to be associated with that name. Some of them joined the Franconations community or became citizens of the Rosemary People's Republic.
Politics
The country is not run by anyone, it seems to be anomic. Léo Grasset has indeed given power to each of his subscribers. However, the server of the Popular Republic of DirtyBiologistan (formerly Popular Republic of DirtyBiology) - official and recognized by Léo Grasset since 8 December, 19 hours - allowed to gather all the people who had an appetence for the politics of the micro-nation. The server's bias was to quickly set up a political structure in order to help a better coordination between the citizens, because the flag project seemed complex because of the Crashapagos and the inactivity of some citizens.
The very structure of Discord forced some people to take a basic power. These are the people who got the role of Organizer. Their purpose was to structure the Discord server at the level of the rooms and to answer technical support questions. Nevertheless, this poses a problem of illegitimate power grab, denounced by some citizens and parties. For this reason, it was voted to appoint representatives who had a duty of neutrality. The role of the representatives was to be an intermediary between the citizens and the organizers. Their main function was to animate the conferences each evening and to allow the debate of ideas. These conferences allowed for a peak of more than 400 participants at the November 3 conference.
As the criticism of the Orgnaizers (in french: Orgnaisateur) (name given to the administrators of the server of the Popular Republic of DirtyBiologistan) whose name is deliberately misspelled became more and more violent, the decision was made to accelerate the democratic process. So on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at midnight sharp, the vote was launched to elect the members of the Constituent Assembly whose goal was to take over the management of the server and to work on the creation of a constitution.
The composition of the Assembly allows for both parties and elected citizens, known as the No-Party, to collaboratively assist in the decision making of the assembly and to represent the diversity of ideologies that comprise the community. This assembly tries to be as democratic as possible. All important decisions will be submitted to a direct vote to the population.
The military defense of the country is ensured by the Dirtybiologistan Defense Forces (in theory: has never been recognized nor used).
Regions and departments
The territory is divided into numerous regions and departments,[3] all of which are united in the United Regions.
It is possible to identify the departments and to join the Discord server corresponding to each one with the map of the departments.
There are alliances between departments, most often based on geographical proximity.

Hypothetical flag
Due to the termination of the modifications on 21 November 2021, the draft flag decided by the departments could not be completed, leading some to wonder what a final version of the flag might have looked like. Thus, several hypothetical versions of the flag took shape on the Historic Heart (in french: Cœur Historique French pronunciation: [kɶr istɔʁik]) server, until a final version was reached. Serecki modified the Vacuum Crash (in french: Crash du Vide French pronunciation: [kraʃ dy vid]) by adding their initial motives foreseen in Join Projet to the detriment of the opinions of the independentists against this project of unification of the territories giving according to them "a perfect vision and without imperfections [...] conceived by a majority. To compare, the final version is this flag.[5]
Then this gave the desire to a certain Ray-Yami to do the rest: remove the blur and render the landscapes in pixel-art, making the transitions with almost all countries and "improving some graphics [deemed] inconsistent." and contrary to the hypothetical Flag.
Population
The population is estimated at 131,551 people, in terms of the number of pixels on the flag. However, only a small portion is active as a citizen of Dirtybiologistan. Moreover, the arrival of the Pixel-less also changes the game because they must also be counted in the total population of the micro-nation.
As a first approach, it is possible to refer to the number of people who are part of the Discord server of the People's Republic of DirtyBiologistan (abbreviated in French as RPDB), which counts 5503 members on December 23, 2021. Although it is one of the largest organs of the micro-nation, and also allows to take into account the Pixel-less, it does not allow to provide a satisfactory result for various reasons like for example several accounts created by the same person.
A first census was done through the Bot ORU, allowing to know the number of active people and having a pixel. Only since the flag can no longer be changed many accounts remain unverified, for lack of other solutions. Furthermore it does not take into account the non-pixels.
