The Disciples of the Light of Christ is a proposed Quaker religious order in the United States of America. The Order rejects all national authority in an attempt to follow the Kingdom of God and the Light of Christ flowing within every person, otherwise known as a conscience. Operating as their own sovereign movement, they work democratically, making all decisions through 'Meetings for Business'. A Meeting for Business is a Quaker practice where the entire community sits in a circle and waits for the Holy Spirit to give them directions on how to proceed as a group.

The Order has three main tenets: Nonviolence, Generosity, and Simplicity. These tenets are essential to the Order, and are based on Quaker theology.

Nonviolence is the first tenet due to its importance. As each person is a child of God, it is wrong to kill His creation. The Disciples of the Light of Christ, as a Quaker monastic order, works towards peace with prayers and activism.

Generosity is the second tenet of the Order, following Ephesians 4:32, which reads "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you."

Simplicity is the third tenet of the Order, which is the principle that things that do not bring one closer to Christ should be eliminated.

Etymology

The Disciples of the Light of Christ is named due to the Quaker theological concept of the Light of Christ inside every living human being.
