The Districts of Melite were the most common internal political and electoral subdivision of the Democratic Christian Republic of Melite until federalisation. All of the former districts are located on the island of Malta and the island of Comino, all in the Republic of Malta. These were put in force through the passing of the District Act of 2022 on 9 January 2022.[1] Districts were superior to the former military commissariats, Melitian Dilu and Northern Rhodesia. The Dominica Autonomous City, although a district, is still considered a separate subdivision of Melite. The new administrative divisions would be re-defined through the Federalisation and Vice-President of Melite Act of 2022, tabled by Thomas Jacobs of then-Melincia District.

Summary
The Democratic Christian Republic of Melite is currently unorganised with only a single Main Area, one District of Comino led by Jeremy Galea (TT-Cm) and the semi-independent YeLand S.A.R., led by Julian David Cassar (AP-Ye). Melite has a total of six unorganised regions, including the capital, Rabat. This makes it different in elections, to divide the Districts. Given the distance between the regions on the island, they qualify to be set up as different districts.

The Districts can be represented equally in Parliament by 2 citizens from each district.

For non-resident citizens of Melite, the ability to register in one of the Districts could be made available, but not the right to be elected Mayor of the District, with it being reserved for the Maltese Islanders living physically in the region, but rather the ability to represent the district in Parliament.
Status: Repealed

The District Act legislated the District's areas, their method of government, and their official flags, and was put in force on 9 January 2022,[1] but de-facto repealed with the Federalisation and Vice-President of Melite Act of 2022.[2][a]
