The Atlantean Federal Republic, colloquially known as Atlantis or Federal Atlantis, is a micronation mainly located in Asia. It was founded on 18 May 2022 by Christopher Slant, the first President of the Republic, and officially declared independence from Hong Kong on 12 August 2022. Atlantis has a de facto area of 618.7m² and a total population of 8.
Atlantis consists of 8 states: Hydrus, the capital and 6 cities, Vectorvalley, Stralenburg, New Haven, Trenton, Darwin and Solemn River are located in Hong Kong. Schrödinger Territories is a "virtual territory" as stated in the Atlantean Constitution, which is the nation's Discord server.
Atlantis is a Semi-presidential republic, with the People’s Congress as the state legislature. Elections are held every 2 years, and the Atlantean Social Democratic Party is currently the largest party, holding 2 seats out of 3 in the Congress.
Atlantis is currently a provisional member of the League of Independent Nations. It has established diplomatic relations with the Kingdom of Salanda, State of Hokoria, and the New Rubix Republic.
On 7 September 2023, Brian LeBlear was sacked as the Minister of Internal Affairs because of misconduct. Jack Zakrevsky was chosen as the new Minister.
On 26 October 2023, Brian LeBlear died by committing suicide. 26 October was then designated as a state mourning day and all state celebration was cancelled.
Etymology
Atlantis (Ancient Greek: Ἀτλαντὶς νῆσος, meaning “Island of Atlas”), is a fictional island depicted in Plato’s work Timaeus and Critias. It was later seen as a utopian society. This name was chosen by the state’s founder, Slant, to represent that the People of Atlantis enjoy absolute liberty and equality.
History
On 18 May 2022, Christopher Slant set up a provisional government in Hong Kong called the Government of Empire of Neo-Victoria, attempting to create a country in which people would be truly equal, freeing its people under the rule of the CCP Hong Kong Government. However, he did not take that seriously at the time. After he announced that on his personal Instagram page and his Discord server, 6 people obliged to join. Therefore, Slant created another Discord server for the nation, which will be known as Schrödinger Territories later on.
After the establishment of the Empire, Slant abandoned it, until on 19 February he discovered MicroWiki. He held an election on 28 February, in which all the country’s citizens voted, and he was elected the President. After the election, Slant immediately announced that Neo-Victoria would reform into a federation. On 2 March, the Constitution of the People of the Atlantean Federal Republic was published, and the Federation was officially established. It consisted of 2 states then, namely Hydrus and Vectorhaven.
On 6 March, the first Atlantean Congress Elections were held. Out of 3 seats, 2 were taken by Atlantean Social Democatic Party representatives, one being Brian LeBlear and another being Karos Reicher. The remaining seat belonged to Marcus Darren, the representative of Socialist Party.
On 12 March, Slant created Stralenburg and New Haven out of Vectorvalley, because he wanted to make the size of the states more similar. It was kind of an unsuccessful attempt, however, as we can see that the size of New Haven is more than 4 times the size of Hydrus.
On 31 May, Slant signed the Treaty of Trenton with the Republic of Irismania, which allowed Atlantis to acquire Irismania's land, namely Trenton, Darwin and Solemn River.
Politics and government
The government of Atlantis consists of 3 parts: the Cabinet, led by the President himself, the People's Congress as the legislature, and various ministries.
President
According to the Constitution, the President is the head of government and has an office term of 2 years. He has the power of:
- Approve or veto any resolutions made by the Congress;
- Issue executive orders when necessary;
- Declaring war on any foreign political entity;
- Participate in any occasion, either by himself or appointing a representative, representing Atlantis.
People's Congress
The People's Congress is the legislature and is the sole organ within the Legislative branch of the government. Congress Representatives have a term of 8 months. 2 out of 3 seats are taken by the Atlantean Social Democartic Party. The remaining seat belonged to the Socialist Party. It has the power to pass resolutions that will take effect once the President signs it.
Political parties
The Atlantean Social Democartic Party was founded by the State's founder himself, Slant, which supports liberalism. Except it bring right-wing on most issues, it firmly supports LGBTQ+ rights and recognizes personal liberty and rights. The Socialist Party promoted socialism, though its founder was more aligned to syndicalism. It earned one vote out of 8 people and was elected as the second-largest party.

Law and order
According to the Constitution, the judiciary of Atlantis is the Supreme Court of Atlantis. All cases will be judicated by the Supreme Justice. The current Supreme Justice is vacant, and the President is currently looking for a suitable person to fill in the vacancy.
Military
Atlantis has no standing Army. However, 2 voluntary soldiers formed the People's Defensive Union, which was qualified by the President. It serves as an army when conflicts happen.

The Atlantean government consists of 4 ministries, namely the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Environmental Protection, Ministry of Intelligence and Technology, and Ministry of Foreign Relations.

Geography and climate
Located in Hong Kong, Atlantis has a humid subtropical climate, characteristic of southern China, despite being located south of the Tropic of Cancer. Typhoons occur often in summer, sometimes resulting in floods or landslides. Winters are short, mild and usually sunny at the beginning, becoming cloudy towards February.
