Duchess Maria I International Airport (Lingua Franca Nova: Airoporto internasional Duxesa Maria I) (IATA (planned): SAI, ICAO (planned): CSAI), colloquially called SAI Sancratosia International, is the international passenger airport in the symbolic territory of Sancratosia. It is located in the Altia Maria district.

For its virtual purposes, the airport shares its runways with Montréal–Mirabel International Airport located in Mirabel, Canada, 21 nautical miles (39 km; 24 mi) northwest of Montréal.

It is an administrative entity responsible to the Ministry of Territory under the Department of Transportation.

The airport is home to the flag-carrier of Sancratosia, Cuatrida Airlines.

History

Establishment

Since the airport in the symbolic territory of Sancratosia is too small for large operations, the Principality also operates virtually through the Montréal–Mirabel International Airport.

Despite being physically closer to Montréal–Trudeau International Airport, Montréal–Mirabel International Airport was established as the virtual airport for Sancratosia.[a] The reasoning behind this selection resides in the fact that Princess Cloe once piloted a Cessna 172 airplane on a flight from Mascouche to Mirabel, landing at Montréal–Mirabel International Airport.

Nomenclature

Starting on 1 December 2023 (2023-12-01), after establishing its ceremonial territorial claim, Sancratosia's airport began using different names, internally, to easily identity which runway was being used. The name "Sancratosia-SAI" is used when talking about the landing strip inside of the territory and "Sancratosia-YMX" when using the Montréal–Mirabel runway.

Airlines and destinations

The virtual flag-carrier of Sancratosia, Cuatrida Airlines operates its main hub from Sancratosia International and its headquarters are located at the airport.
