The Duchy of Haznin, also known more simply as Haznin, was a micronation located in the lower peninsula of Michigan. It was established and lead by Duchess Aubrey McAlister up to its dissolution. It was made up of one county and one colony, Shelda and Arbuyo respectively. The capital city was Dima. Dima was also the capital city of Shelda.

Name

The name Haznin is pronounced /ha:z'ni:n/ (haz-NEEN) and was created by the duchess. It has no etymology.

History

Haznin declared indepedence from the United States of America on 9 September 2021. The county of Senaz was created 10 September 2021 and Nathan McAlister was made count of Senaz. The original flag of Haznin was also created and set as the national flag on 10 September 21 by the Monarch. The national bank of Haznin and the national currency, the Haznini Tuman, were established on 11 September 2021. Haznin expanded its land claim from 2 rooms to 4, and the counties of Luiz and Rili were created on 15 September 2021. Aubrey McAlister was made countess of Luiz and Terozon was made count of Rili. The county of Irla was established 16 September 2021 with Aubrey McCalister as the countess and it was made the official capital, even though it was the de facto capital before the county was created. On 18 September a clarification on the claims of Haznin was made with an official map.

The Second Update on the Claims and Counties, or SUCC for short, was released on 19 September 2021. The SUCC made the entire property of which the duchess dwelled in the land claim of Haznin and the previous counties were completely dissolved and all previous county titles were revoked. The city of Dima was established, as well as the county of Shelda. The city of Dima was established as the county capital of Shelda and the national capital of Haznin. Duchess Aubrey McAlister appointed herself as mayor of Dima and countess of Shelda. Haznin changed its flag to the current flag on 29 September 2021. Arbuyo was claimed as a colonial territory on 30 September 2021. On 1 October 2021 the Haznini Council was established to help the duchess with legislative and judicial matters with her having the final say. Farsi was dropped as an official language on 8 October 2021.

Haznin became inactive afterwards and was officially dissolved on 24 November 2021.

Politics and government

The government of Haznin was an absolute monarchy, matters of legislation and government were handled by the duchess.

Legislation

Legislation is officially handled by the Haznini Council made up of apointees of the duchess with the duchess having the final say, but ended up not being used with the duchess deciding things due to no people being eligible to be appointed to the council.

Law and order

Judicial matters were officially handled by the duchess. No laws had been set so matters were handled directly by the council and duchess at her whim.

Geography

The geography of Shelda was very flat and grassy with a few trees, though a significant amount of space were taken up by the buildings of Dima. Haznin's land gets much snow in the winter. Arbuyo was hilly and was very forrested.

Economy

Haznini 1 Tuman bill

The national currency of Haznin was the Haznini Tuman, which was backed by silver. (1 gram = 1 Tuman) Tumans were seperated into 100 Qirans. The national bank in Dima held the nation's silver treasury of 57g. According to the government, a redisign and renaming of the currency was planned.
