The 9th Elysiumite senatorial election occurred on July 18, 2020, exactly three months after the last election. The last election resulting in a NEP majority and Sir Spooky being made Majority Leader.

This was the first election to occur after the founding of the republic which also made Elysium a parliamentary system, meaning this election would have higher stakes than prior elections. This was also the first election to occur after the NEP broke up, the NEP which had over 90% of the populous voting for it had a monopoly on politics. After the NEP broke up multiple new parties emerged from the rubble, first the Democratic Traditionalist and Progressive Parties where reformed. The Evolutionary party was also founded, alongside the Liberal ,Yedinist ,and Communist Parties.
