Sir Ethan Charles McAllister ONU PC MP (born November 5, 1992) is a Canadian micronationalist and a New Ulster politician who currently serves as 2nd Prime Minister of New Ulster and leader of the Liberal Conservative Party. A co-founder of the country, he served as its first Premier from August to November 2021.

McAllister was instrumental in the establishment of New Ulster and was the principle drafter of the Constitution Act which established the country as an overseas territory of the United Kingdom. The son of a Northern Irish immigrant to Canada, he coined the name "New Ulster" for the country.

Following the enactment of the Constitution Act in August 2021, McAllister was appointed by Governor Geoffrey Marsden to lead a caretaker government until the first House of Assembly could be elected. As premier, he called a general election later that month at which his Liberal Conservative Party won the most seats but fell short of a majority.

Despite initial successes in passing legislation, McAllister's government was destabilized by the so called "Floor crossing controversy" which saw two independent MPs—including one, Autumn Hunter, who was serving as Speaker of the House—cross the floor to join the New Ulster Democratic Party; resulting in the latter gaining a majority of seats in the House of Assembly. As a consequence, McAllister resigned as Premier on November 16, 2021 and was replaced by Stephen Cameron.

McAllister was Prime Minister on October 20 after his Liberal Conservative Party won the 2022 Kennebecasis—Quispamsis by-election and, with it, a majority in the House of Assembly. This makes him the first—and to date, only—person to serve non-consecutive terms as head of government of New Ulster.

Early life

McAllister was born on 5 November 1992 in Rothesay, New Brunswick, Canada to Duncan McAllister (1951–2020) and Alice Hague (b. 1953). McAllister's father was born in Northern Ireland in the United Kingdom and emigrated to Canada aged 21. McAllister's mother was born in Monkton, New Brunswick to a Canadian father and a Belgian mother. His maternal grandparents met when his grandfather, William Hague, was stationed in Belgium during World War Two. He is the youngest of three siblings, having an older brother and an older sister.

Personal life

McAllister lived and worked in Sydney, Australia for 2 years after completing his studies where he met his girlfriend, Katelyn Maughan. The couple moved to Canada in 2017 and currently reside in Rothesay where they own a home together. On March 4, 2022, McAllister's sister, Kimberley, gave birth to a daughter, Sienna, who became the first natural born citizen of New Ulster; her parents both being naturalized citizens.

Outside of micronationalism, McAllister works for Service New Brunswick and is an active member of the Monarchist League of Canada as well as the Progressive Conservative Party of New Brunswick. Politically, he considers himself a Red Tory and advocates for the establishment of "fully confederated" CANZUK.
