History

The flag of the Kingdom of Salanda has changed a few times over the course of Salanda’s history in fact the first versions of the flag are older than Salanda as King Reuben I wanted to design a flag for one of his Minecraft worlds which is no longer available to access when Salanda was established the flag was adopted as Salanda’s flag but has gone under many renditions throughout the course of Salanda’s history.

The first version of Salanda’s flag

Original Flag of Salanda

The flag was used before Salanda however it was adopted as Salanda’s flag the two strips of Orange on either side represent the two battles of Orange part of the Minecraft world which can’t be accessed it was based off the mythology that the people on an island in that Minecraft world were able to defend and win a war and when the wanted to make a flag to celebrate they could only find Orange so that is what they used however later on the flag’s symbolism of Salanda was how strong Salanda was and that is what the official interpretation of the first version of Salanda’s flag was. The flag was used as the official flag as Salanda from the 22nd June 2018-21st April 2020 although the flag had been used for other purposes back in 2017 around when it was made.

The Salanda Layered Flag

Salanda Layered flag design

The Salanda layered flag was designed in a layer with a Star on the top a Red Diamond in the middle and an olive branch on the bottom to represent how Salanda shines like a star in uniqueness is rare like the rarest diamond which is the red diamond and Myrtle branches for how Salanda wants peace and how beautiful the land smells since Myrtle evokes a pleasant smell. It is surrounded by the two Orange banners used on the first design. It was used from the 21st of April 2020- 28 December 2020.

Current Design also called the Royal Flag of the Kingdom of Salanda (In use as the official flag)

One of the most radical changes when the official current flag of Salanda was designed was getting rid of the star and replacing it with the sun instead but the symbolism is still the same the flag incorporates the Sun into the middle where the olive branches and the red diamond inside for a neater and more beautiful design with the two stripes of orange surrounding it this flag has been in use as the official flag of the Kingdom of Salanda from the 28 December 2020 and the flags name is the Royal Flag of the Kingdom of Salanda it has also been used on Salanda’s coat of arms as well. It uses the 2:3 flag ratio.

Current Symbolism

The current symbolism of the official flag of the Kingdom of Salanda is that the two Orange banners or strips represent how strong Salanda is the white is how pure Salanda is, the Sun represents how Salanda shines in uniqueness and innovation and is a beacon for the future, the Myrtle Branches represents how Salanda wants peace and how it wants to spread the beauty of the smell of its land to other nations and the Red Diamond is for how rare Salanda is in beauty and how rare it’s excellent characteristics of the Salandarian people are.

Digitalisation of the current Salanda Flag

With a lot of internal and external support, Reuben I was eventually presented with a digitalised version of the current flag design and the digitalisation format has been used as the Salanda Flag standard.

Current Official Flag as a flag

Handcrafted Salanda flag.
Official Flag of the Kingdom of Salanda.

Salanda’s official flag design was first used on this flag here which has been used since the 28th December 2020 the flag is flown on a pole and The Palace of The Kingdom of Salanda.

Notes

Contrary to popular belief the two branches on Salanda’s flags are not olive branches but branches of the Myrtle plant instead.
