The Kingdom of Fontasia (Fontasian: Gubkrolu Fontasya), more commonly known as Fontasia, is a micronation based in the New England states of Massachusetts and New Hampshire but with additional territories and claims in Ohio, Florida and Ireland. Fontasia was officially established on 1 March 2022 as the successor state to the Second Assemblic Federation.
The Kingdom of Fontasia is considered an anocracy whilst being a constitutional monarchy. It is self-declared sovereign state with a King as the head of state, and a Praetor (equivalent to a Prime Minister), as the head of government. Fontasia is led by a unicameral legislature known as the Supreme Directorate.
Fontasia inherited all diplomatic alliances created by the Second Assemblic Federation and retains a strong connection with its long-time allies. Fontasia is currently a signatory nation of the Tri-Alliance Pact alongside the Empire of Meritia and the Kingdom of Scynja. Fontasia is also a member of multiple intermicronational organizations. It currently ranks at a 0.80 in the Fontasian Intermicronational System of Stability (FIMSS), making it a 1st World Micronation. It is the most advanced micronation within the Assemblic Sector, and is a micronation that is also in the Galway Sector.
Unlike its predecessors, Fontasia is the first Assemblian micronation that is a self-declared sovereign state. Simulationism has been abandoned completely, and secessionism has been embraced. The Kingdom of Fontasia shares many land borders with micronations, most being on Dilu Island. The Buddie Union has a direct land border in the Home Regions, which has made it a significant ally for the Kingdom. Fontasia also borders the Empire of Östruck in Ireland, and the Empire of Meritia in Ohio, and the Kingdom of Scynja in Florida. The Kingdom considers itself as the most politically powerful monarchy in the New England sector as of 2022.
Etymology
The name "Fontasia" derives from Font and Tase, two rivers who were thought to be separate in the tribal period of Fontasia. Font is a direct cognate of the name of the Font River, which starts at the confluence of the Kalkaya and Tarcellian Rivers in Tarcellia. Tase is the name of the small river that flows through modern Fontum. After the 2015 expedition into the Corrigith Forest and further expeditions conducted by the Corrigith Expedition, it was discovered that the Font and Tase were tributaries of the same water source, hence creating the hydronym Fontase. Fontase evolved into Fontas which was the original name of the modern capital city of Fontasia, Fontum. Fontas as expected turned into Fontasia, and the name of "Fontasia" became the main term describing the region of Fontum and the surrounding areas by 2017. The original name of the region was Tasia, and the people living within the Avalon Valley were known as "Tasians."
The literal translation of the nation in English is "Land of the Font and Tase."
History
Politics and government
The Fontasian Royal Government has two technical leaders, the King, the figurehead and head of state, and the Praetor who represents the head of government. A Praetor is elected every six months from the Supreme Directorate. The Praetor and Emperor have equal power and can challenge each other's power as a balance. The National Legislature is the Supreme Directorate, a unicameral body of five parties.
King & Praetors
The King of Fontasia serves as a figurehead and the head of state. The Praetor of Fontasia serves as head of government, and every six months is elected through sortition from the Supreme Directorate. The King and Praetor serve as equal authority, making Fontasia a de facto duumvirate. Praetors can serve as many terms as they wish, lasting six months each. The style of the King is "Rex Fontasias" which in English roughly translates to "King of Fontasia." The current King is Conor I, who is the heir to the Newman Dynasty.
Directors
Each respective Supreme Directorate party is lead by a Director, an elected leader usually from a political affiliation group or some other major institution in Fontasia. Directors are elected every three months and can serve up to four terms. During Praetorial Elections, a Director will be randomly selected through a number of electoral processes to become the next Praetor.

The Supreme Directorate, established on 20 May 2022 to replace the outdated and ineffective Fontasian Circumference was based off of the Second Assemblic Federation's Supreme Directorate which consisted of seven parties rather than five.
The Fontasian Supreme Directorate consists of five parties divided into three sectors each consisting of two parties except the Centrists. Each sector incrementally increases in right-wing radicality, starting with the Centrists and ending with the Far-Right. The Populist Party is the only party within the Centrist sector. The Christian Democratic Party and the National Monarchist Party are the two parties of the Neutral-Right sector. The Ergatist Party and the Irredentist Reclamation Front are the two parties of the Far-Right Sector.
The Directorate acts as the major lawmaking body other than the King. The two sectors other than the Centrists decide if they are "for" or "against" the law. The Centrist sector determines whether a law passes or not, making it immensely powerful.
The Directorate, coinciding with the Second Fontasian Constitution will not allow leftist parties to be represented in government, but this could be subject to change in the coming months or years. Several political groups supporting one or more parties in the Directorate are already present.
The Directorate is also a de facto Ergatist legislature, as all parties, as of 8 September 2022 are de facto Ergatist, just with varying degrees of conservatism for the ideology. The Directorate functions in the same way, just with far more Ergatist representation.
Election Processes
Elections in Fontasia are mostly through sortition, or random voting. All native citizens of Fontasia are eligible to vote and run for office, however non-native Fontasian citizens are required to claim land and administrate it for Fontasia to be able to participate in elections. Non-native citizens can only support and lead political affiliation groups.
Praetorial Elections
Every six months, on 25 May and 25 November, a Praetorial Election occurs. Each Director eligible to run for Praetor is voted on 14 times randomly, this is known as the First Round. The candidate with the largest number of repeating votes wins the First Round and is nominated into the Second Round with the candidate with the second-most votes. The Second Round is an electoral college of all 12 provinces, who through their amount of districts are powerful than other provinces. Each province randomly selects a candidate to support and the candidate with the most support is elected Praetor of Fontasia, and their party becomes the presiding party of the Supreme Directorate.
Directorial Elections
Every three months, on 10 May, 10 August, 10 November and 10 February a Directorial Election occurs. Between these elections, a new politician may announce their candidacy for Director, or the incumbent Director can announce re-election. During these elections, the candidates running for the same seat of a party are voted on 7 times randomly, and the candidate who prevails wins the seat
Law and order
The Fontasian Constitution is the supreme law of the land in Fontasia, although US law is respected. All lands claimed by Fontasia are enforced by the FDF, however enforcement patrols don't usually occur. In recent times, current Praetor Joseph Montgomery has made a bid to change this and increase law enforcement in Fontasia after recent scandals among popular Fontasian Politicians.
Foreign relations
The Kingdom Of Fontasia inherited the Second Assemblic Federation's allies and organization memberships. The Kingdom pursues a non-interventionist foreign policy unless actions oblige the Kingdom to act in times of crisis or war. Fontasia could be recognized as a regional power in the New England Sector, as it has a decent amount of influence in its community. It has extensive influence over the Assemblosphere.
In the mainland regions, Fontasia shares a southern border with the Buddie Union. On Dilu Island, Fontasia shares borders with the Empire of Meritia, Kingdom of Scynja and the Democratic Christian Federation of Melite.

Fontasian stance in macronational disputes
Fontasia has been well known for its Pro-Israeli, Pro-Jewish attitudes, as it recognizes the State of Palestine as a terrorist organization. In the Russo-Ukrainian Conflict, Fontasia is against both Ukraine and Russia and believes Uganda will resolve the conflict, thus it does not recognize the independence of Luhansk People's Republic or Donetsk People's Republic. Fontasia also recognizes the Republic of China as the legitimate Chinese state, and Republic of Korea as the legitimate Korean state. Fontasia also supports Irish Reunification due to ancestral ties with the Catholic Irish people.

Geography and climate
The Assemblian Regions are dominated by a variation of forested hills, swamps and plains. The longest river in the Kingdom is the Brunas River which runs from the Atvan Forest to Lake Millis, about 2 miles away. Other major mainland rivers are the Font River System (which runs through the capital), Serkell River, Arconis River and the Cilomoro River (Assabet River). Major bodies of water are Lake Northan and Lake Millis. The climate in the mainland is temperate. The governorates in Massadoria have a wetter, cooler climate which is subtropical. Long stretches of beaches and dry forests cover the Massadorian governorates. Dobrok is characterized by its one large body of water, Dobrok Pond and the woodlands that surround it. There is a large field in Dobrok used for rocket launching. The provinces of Salicia and the North Coast are known for their gray-sand beaches and extensive tidal marshes. The Governorate of Galvegia, located in western Ireland has a cool, rainy climate and consists of a large field and some cliffs. The Governorate of Blue Oak is largely forested and located in Ohio. The Protectorate of Trasona has a tropical climate with large savannah-like fields and swampland. The Protectorate of Nomantia is an isolated, uninhabited island off the coast of Martha's Vineyard.
Territories
Fontasia is divided into three regions, the Assemblian Region, where the core Fontasian provinces are located, the Southern Region where the Massadorian governorates are located, as well as Trasona, Nomantia and Blue Oak, and the Northern Region, which includes Dobrok, Galvegia, Salicia, Rye and Cullenbor. There are six Assemblian governorates, Fontasia, Millisia, Isovo, Centropolis and Northan. Southern Region has three governorates, Lewisia, Imperial Beach and Blue Oak and two Protectorates, Trasona and Nomantia. The Northern Region has four governorates, Dobrok, Salicia, North Coast and Galvegia. Each Governorate is divided into multiple municipalities.
There are four territorial units. The broader of which is the Region. There are three regions, as previously mentioned. Next is Governorates, the base unit of all territorial units which are groupings of the smaller unit of Municipalities. Protectorates are autonomous territories that have separate government than the one in Fontum. Districts are the smallest unit and practically serve as city/town divisions. The final unit, used for areas not established as Protectorates or Governorates is known as the Territory. There are a total of 3 Regions, 13 Governorates, 2 Protectorates, 6 Territories and 82 total Municipalities for all regions.
Fontum is the national capital of Fontasia and Lewisport is the largest Fontasian city. Centropolis is the economic capital of the country, and Isovo is the technological center of the nation. Blue Oak City is the largest Fontasian city outside of New England.

Economy
Fontasia inherited its predecessor's economy, which was extremely prosperous. The Fontasian government operates Fontasia's national bank and treasury, the Central Bank of Fontasia (CBF), that mints and regulates Fontasian Fontis (Ғ), Fontasia's secondary currency to the United States Dollar. The Central Bank also has large amounts of United States Dollars, as the Fontis is pegged to the United States Dollar.
On 15 November 2022 the Fontasian economy was officially created, with the nationalization of the Fontasian Trading Company, originally a government corporation. The Fontasian Trading Company became a public investing market that had various shares and stocks being available for purchase in Fontis. A day later, the Fontum Stock Exchange (FSE) was established, being ran by the Fontasian Trading Company.
One Fontasian Fontis is worth four United States Dollars.
Norumbega Connection
Fontasians consider themselves the incarnation and "successors" of the people who inhabited the legendary lost Pre-Columbian North American city known as Norumbega. The King of Fontasia has a secondary title of "King of the Norumbegans" to further honor the lost city. Fontasia, for this reason is known as "Second Norumbega" or "New Norumbega."
Culture and media
Fontasian culture has existed for Assemblia for many years. Rooted from the tribal warrior states of Fontasia that lived in the forested hills, the culture is similar to that of the Ancient Slavs or the Ukrainian Cossacks. Fontasians even in the modern era are known for being renowned explorers and frontiersmen, two major qualities that made the Assemblian colonial empires prosper. Forts using sticks and miscellaneous materials are common in Fontasia and serve as community gathering spots in the Forest. The Chefarra, or Chiefstick is a Fontasian craft originally crafted for the tribal chieftains to hike the hills is a prime example of Fontasian art. Fontasians value the groundpines that grow in the Corrigith Forest and use it to decorate stick forts. Foods such as Kasupanu (Cheesebread) are cooked on open fire pits.
Silvalia, a Fontasian festival celebrates the importance of the Corrigith Forest in Fontasian life and is the most important of all holidays in Fontasian culture. After the Assemblic colonization of many regions, foods have been imported to Fontasia. National foods and drinks have been adopted into Fontasian cuisine, one being the Wamesian Wings, a chicken wings made with a mixture of Coca-Cola, Soy Sauce and spices. That and Queso Dip are typically seen at a Fontasian party. The national anthem is "Oh Fontasia, Our Homeland" which uses the tune of the German national anthem. Major holidays include Victory Month, a month of celebration in June and July which commemorates the wars fought by Fontasia and Assemblia. Fontasia Week is a week celebrated to honor Fontasian nationalism. A massive party is hosted in Fontum on the last weekend of August every year with a cookout on Revolutionary Square. The King has an annual coronation on October 7, his birthday. Festovium, or just the November–December holiday season has multiple feasts and celebration days. On March 15, Remembrance Day, is a day remembering those who have succumbed to the Coronavirus Pandemic. On May 13, the King makes a proclamation as that date is the anniversary of Fontasian establishment.Fontasia has also used the tunes (but gives credit to the original) of many Russian/Soviet, Prussian, Cossack, British songs and marches.
Fontasia has a very lively meme culture, with various memes being created in its history.
The culture of the Protectorate of Galvegia is unique, as it is mostly influenced by local Irish culture, as well as the culture of Roscamistan and Ballinfoyleburg. The culture of Blue Oak is the same as the Empire of Meritia, due to its border with Meritia.
Although a secular state, the royal religion practiced by the Royal Family of Fontasia is Roman Catholic Christianity. A majority of the Fontasian population is Christian, mostly Catholics and some Protestant denominations. Judaism is present as well, as there is a large minority of Jews living in Fontasia. Hinduism is also a major religion, due to the large amount of people with South Asian descent in the Assemblian regions.
Jewish customs and culture, due to the large minority of Jews living in Fontasia has been introduced into Fontasian culture. Jewish foods such as challah bread are regularly eaten by non-Jewish Fontasians. A similar influx of Indian and South-Asian culture has appeared in Fontasia too, as Indian food and cricket have became popular in Fontasia.
Fontasia is extremely ethnically diverse. Most people however are of European descent, predominantly Irish, English, Italian and French descent. There is a large minority of Indians and South Asians in Fontasia as well. All groups recognize themselves as being Fontasians however.
There is an advanced social class structure for Fontasian nobility as well, that categorizes power by political affluence in families in the elite.
Fontasia has two major national epics, the first of which is the Fontasian foundation myth known as the Legend of the Corrigithian Fields the second epic is the account of the Hexan Wars known as the War of the Great Kings.
The major media source of the Kingdom of Fontasia is the Fontasian News Network (FNN) which owns both the Fontum Sentinel and the Fontasian Broadcasting Network as subsidaries. The FNN is a government company. Several micronations receive news from the FNN via Discord announcement followings.
Language
Fontasian, one of the many secondary languages of the Kingdom and is apart of the Assemblian language family. It is a poetic language that is constructed. It is the direct descendant of the extremely similar to the Assemblian (Zemblahi) language, so much so it could be considered "Middle Assemblian." Fontasian can also be written the developing Fontasian Cyrillic Alphabet.

Technology
Fontasian predecessors have developed many advanced technologies. In late 2019, Assemblians developed a baking soda-vinegar rocket that only launched a few inches off the ground, in early 2020 however a pressurized water rocket was developed which launched up to 6 feet off the ground. And in August 2021, an actual rocket with rocket engines was launched, and flew to 300 feet, known as Udayaprakash-1. The rocket's predecessor, Udayaprakash-2, was launched six months later from Dobrok. A third Udayaprakash rocket, Udayaprakash-3 was launched from Dobrok as well but exploded halfway through its flight.
Assemblia has long created water bottle boat probes to race across Crocus Harbor, for scientific purposes. Also, for scientific purposes, balloon probes have been launched on windy days. In early 2020, scientists in Amsters developed a small solar oven capable of melting a chocolate chip, known as Helios. Assemblia has also attempted in constructing a "drone" which did not succeed. Assemblia continues to advance further, with more and better technologies being developed. Isovo Labs, a government-funded research conglomerate in Frasia has taken control of the Assemblian technology industry. Isovo Labs plan on making devices like lightbulbs and batteries by 2022. Many of these technologies Fontasia has adopted and will continue to develop for its own scientific research. Isovo remains the technology and innovation capital of Fontasia.
