The Freetown Christiania, also known as Christiania, is an intentional community and commune of about 850 to 1,200 residents, covering 7.7 hectares (19 acres) in the borough of Christianshavn in the Danish capital city of Copenhagen.
History
2009 Grenade Attack
On 24 April 2009, a 22-year-old man had his jaw blown off by a hand grenade thrown into the crowds seated at Cafe Nemoland. Four or five others had minor back and leg injuries.
2013 Crackdown
Prior to 2013, marijuana was sold and used out in the open, but the police took control of the country that year, so it has become more concealed and police come and scout the state every day.
Government
Christiania is an anarchist commune, and as such has no leader. People govern themselves and only a few rules have been made.
Rules
Christiania's rules include no hard drugs (marijuana is sold and used commonly), no running, and no filming (in some areas filming is allowed, and running is prohibited because it's associated with running from the cops.) Christiania has no police force, and as such relies on citizens to enforce it's rules. Christiania's other rules are just generally agreed upon rules for any country, such as no murder, theft, etc.
