The Friends Society Freedom Party was one of the four major political parties of the Friends Society. It was established in May 2016 by former Finance Minister Arnab Sil and his brother Saikat Seal. The party was merged with the Friends Societal Congress on the eve of the 2018 March general election.

Soon after its formation, the party formed an alliance with the ruling Friends Society Secular Party and became a part of the coalition government. In mid-November 2016, party President Arnab Sil who was serving as the nation's Vice President announced his intentions to contest the general election to be held in December that year. He submitted his resignation as the Vice President on 27 November 2016 in order to prepare for the general election. The party did not perform well in the general election and was only able to win two seats in the parliament. Senior party leader Saikat Seal was appointed as the Leader of the Opposition following the constitution of the parliament. The party remained as the principal opposition between January and April 2017. However, the party formed an alliance with the Friends Society Independent Party in April 2017 and formed a government under the leadership of Sarala Baishya. The alliance contested the 2017 general election unitedly however were not able to secure a majority in the parliament. With no single party being able to form the government, then President Varuna Sriraya invited all three parties to form an unity government with Tanishkaa Patranabish as the Prime Minister. Freedom Party President Arnab Sil was appointed as the Deputy Prime Minister and remained in that position until 21 March 2018.

The party was merged with with the Friends Societal Congress on the eve of the 2018 March general election.
