General (Hindi: जनरल), abbreviated as GEN (and often referred to as a full general in order to distinguish it from the lower general officer ranks) is the highest rank currently achievable by serving officers of the Royal Vishwamitran Army, the land forces of the Vishwamitran Armed Forces and the second highest rank in the entire paygrade structure which was officially created following the establishment of the armed forces in 2018. A four-star rank with NATO code OF-9, it is equivalent to an Admiral in the Royal Vishwamitran Navy or an Air Chief Marshal in the Royal Vishwamitran Air Force and ranks below a Field Marshal and above a Lieutenant General. A full general's insignia consists of crossed baton and sabre over a wreath topped by the Sovereign's crown.

The second highest rank of General was created on 13 May 2018 by President Anoushkaa Patranabish on the eve of the constitutional coup of 14 May 2018 and bestowed the rank upon Deputy Prime Minister Tanishkaa Patranabish in recognition of her extraordinary contributions and services to the nation and its military warfare. She remained as the only full general in the army until the appointment of Anoushkaa Patranabish to the rank in October the same year. The most recent appointment of an individual as general was that of Vincent Wilhelm von Ironside who was promoted to the rank on 24 August 2021.

By convention, all the constituent rulers of the provinces of Vishwamitra, several senior members of the royal families and top-ranking politicians have been appointed as non-serving generals in the army. The professional head of the Royal Vishwamitran Army, the Chief of the Army Staff shall be the only full general with active service in the nation. Prior to the diseastablishment of the position of the Chief of the Defence Staff, who served as the professional head of the Vishwamitran Armed Forces, the holder of the position served as the nation's only active service general. The rank of general in the Royal Vishwamitran Army is the highest conferrable paygrade rank to which honorary appointments are made.
