The Georgetown Telegraph (Anglish: Georgetown Spellwire; Prsänëan: Xelegraphicøtacxh Gschørjexoon; French: Télégraphe de Georgetown; Esperanto: Ĝorĝtaŭna Telegrafo) is the local news service of Georgetown, Prsänëa, and additionally the official news outlet of the Grand Duchy of Prsänëa itself, as decreed by the Grand Duke Wilary I.
History
The Georgetown Telegraph was originally founded on July 3, 2010 as the People's reformed News of the People's reformed States Republic to be an official outlet of information and opinion from the PrSR, along the lines of other major micronational news services. The PrN fell into disuse on November 9, 2010 after the formation of the Prsänëa People's Republic in the Federated Republics of A1, where its functions were taken up instead by A1 News Service. After the succession of Prsänëa from A1 on July 18, 2012 and the formation of the Grand Duchy, the news service was rebranded to be revived for the new nation as the Telegraph, as it was on July 31, 2012.
December events
In December, 2012, the Telegraph became a member of the Micronational Press Council. Also, on December 24, the Georgetown Telegraph was placed under the control of the Georgetown Communication Service (GCS). As part of the GCS, the Telegraph was expanded to encompass all written and visual media distribution in the Grand Duchy of Prsänëa, while its new partner, Georgetown Radio, was established to encompass all audio and video media distribution.
Sections
There are three major sections, and two minor sections, that make up a majority of the content of the Georgetown Telegraph, with numerous topics underneath the sections. "Inter-micronational", "National" and "Analysis" are the most active sections of the news, while "Local" (for Georgetown itself) and "Monarchy" are written on much less. The Telegraph mainly focuses on sections with subjects that are intermicronational in nature, or are important internal topics to be publically noted.
Micro High
With the revival of the popular micronational animated series Micro High on November 30, 2012, the Georgetown Telegraph began a column for reviews on episodes of Micro High. Although no previous seasons have been analysed yet by the news service, the Telegraph intends to keep up the column for the entire third season, with possibilities of reviewing past seasons in the future.
