The provinces of the Republic of Thulia are the administrative units in Thulia. The provinces are governed by a governor and a vice governor.

History

The first two provinces Korskaay and Mornerkaay were created on an unknown date in June 2022, splitting Thulia in north and south. They were created because Svante Axelsson wanted to divide Thulia into more easily controlled parts. He assigned the cats of Thulia as governors and vice governors. Ludwig was deceased at this time and got the title of Eternal vice governor. When Sigge died on 28 September 2022, he got the title of Eternal governor.

On 4 August, New Greenland joined Thulia as the third province. Axelsson made a deal with his mother, Eleanor Heinonen, that Thulia would claim her property and that she would become governor. Later, Alvin Hansson was assigned vice governor and New Greenland extended to the neighboring Liberty Peninsula, the first land claim not owned by a Thulian citizen.

Roineland joined as the fourth province, on 13 June 2023, after Axelsson had taken a liking to the little island. After he found Rasmus Axelsson's research on the Roine people, a people that lived in the region, Roineland was granted autonomy and the Roineland autonomous region was established on 3 June 2023. It was first when Hackefälla joined that Roineland lost its autonomy and the province of Roineland was established.

As earlier mentioned, Hackefälla joined as the fifth province and the first of the three insular provinces on 4 July 2023. On the same day, Svante Axelsson found an upside down fibreglass boat in the River Svartån near the island of Hackefälla. The boat was later hauled up and used as the main method of transport to the island. The first voyage with the boat was made on 7 July. The provinces of Tortoise Island and Upper Backa joined the same day, becoming sixth and seventh province respectively. Trips with the boat to the latter were planned but never happened.

During a visit to Axelsson's uncle in Dyssekilde, Denmark, he established the first territory of Thulia and the first Thulian dependency outside of Sweden on a beach in the nearcy town of Hald. He and his father Rasmus Axelsson built a wall of stones on the rocks on the beach. Svante founded the administrative city of Tuborg Tower and created a flag and coat of arms of the territory when he came back to the rented house. The Thulian Danish Territory II was established soon after at a nearby part of the same beach. When Axelsson came back to Sweden, the Danish territories were, however, shortly disestablished and ceded to Denmark.

On 16 December 2023, the territories of The Bugatti and Seahorse Territory and the provinces of Hackefälla, Tortoise Island and Upper Backa were ceded to Sweden during the Cession of Hatiubbust. In short, all of the administrative divisions listed had no relation to Thulia. Axelsson liked them and as president claimed them for Thulia's expansion. The members of the State Council present voted 67% in favour.

Definitions

Province

A province is a land area controlled by Thulia, with a permanent population and/or that lies within a 1 kilometre radius, with the Presidential office in the centre.

Territory

A territory was a land area claimed by Thulia that had to lie outside the 1 kilometre radius from the Presidential office. Territories did not have residents or a governor. Because there were no population and no governor, there were no people to complain to a governor. Therefore there was not a need for one. However, a territory could have an overseer who saw over the territory and maintained it to some degree. The president of Thulia and the overseer would control the territory together. If an overseer was absent, the territory was under full control of the president. Territories were abolished during the Cession of Hatiubbust on 16 December 2023.

Evolution

During it's existence, Thulia has changed maps 12 times since 1 February 2022. The maps have shifted in design several times.
