The Grand Duchy of West Germania is a nation in Germany

Etymology

This Micronation should not be confused with the (now defunct) West Germania, belonging to the Saxon Empire.

History

West Germania was first founded on March 31, 2015, as "The Federal Republic of West Germania."

The first month of West Germania's existance saw nothing but fighting and dissent within the government. The two-person nation was a de facto benevolent dictatorship, with Chancellor Newton and Vice-Chancellor Dustin Goss deciding on all legal matters within the nation.

It wasn't until May, 2015, West Germania's second month of existence, that it saw its first immigration. With more citizens, the Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor knew that something within the government had to change in order to keep the nation together.

In the third month of its existence, West Germania was officially converted into a Grand Duchy. This conversion gave the West Germanian citizens more rights, and gave the administrative divisions more autonomous/self-governing power. This also settled many disagreements within the government. West Germania was now a functioning nation.

Now, West Germania is actively seeking diplomatic relations with other micronations, recruiting citizens, and looking for more government and military workers.

Government and politics

West Germania is administered by HRM Grand Duke Christian, and Prime Minister, Dustin Goss.

The legislature of West Germania is invested the Parliament, which is made up of members elected by the citizens of West Germania. Any and all laws passed by the Parliament must be approved by the Grand Duke before entering into force. The Grand Duke may also issue proclamations which have the force of law. These proclamations may be amended and vetoed as regular laws by the Parliament.

Grand Duke Christian is the current head of the West Germanian Armed Services, and holds the rank of General of the Royal Army. The Prime Minister also exercises his constitutional powers, and administers the operation of the West Germanian government.

Military

The West Germanian military exists to provide and execute the laws of West Germania, suppress insurrections, and repel invasions from all enemies foreign, and domestic.

The West Germanian military is comprised of two distinct military branches: the Royal Army, and the Royal Air Force. The West Germanian Royal Army is the primary defense force of the nation. The Royal Air Force also provides minimal protection for citizens of the Grand Duchy. The military is comprised entirely of volunteers, and fills a huge variety of capacities within the nation.

The military of the Grand Duchy is administered by the High Command, which is composed of a Commanding Officer (CO), an Executive Officer (XO), a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer (SNCO), a Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and any other personnel the Commanding Officer may appoint. The High Command is charged with the oversight of all military operations, judicial actions, and changes to practices and procedures of the entire military.

Anyone can enlist in the West Germanian military, but only citizens of the nation are eligible to earn a commission. Commissions are obtained by completing the required readings and tests in the West Germanian Military Academy (WGMA).
