The Grand Emirate Company, abbreviated as GEC is a Raphanian corporate entity owned and entirely controlled by the crown of the Grand Emirate of Raphania. The company operates under the leadership of Grand Emir Charles, who serves as CEO and Owner of the GEC.

The primary purpose of the Grand Emirate Company is to act as the private holding entity and contractor for private infrastructure/development projects set forth by the government of Raphania and subsequently sub-contracted out to GEC. Through this, the Grand Emirate Company allows Raphania to place the responsibility of funding and completion for national projects in the hands of the private sector and subsequently offset costs that would otherwise fall on Raphania's crown treasury. The holding corporation also allows for liability of project completion to fall on the private sector instead of on the government.

History

The Grand Emirate Company was created on 13 October 2022 by Royal Decree. This act folded the duties of the already existing cabinet office of Infrastructure into the new corporation while retaining the previous entity as a regulatory body. Upon its creation, Grand Emir Charles was placed in control of the GEC, assuming the position of CEO the same day that the company was founded.

Structure

The corporation is structured in a typical "contractor-subcontractor" format with the GEC retaining ultimate responsibility and liability for government contracts with the option to sub-contract to outside individuals/groups/companies if doing such will benefit the project.

While due to the actual size of the GEC, most projects are centrally administered by the CEO, individual contracts/projects can be devolved into their own individual groups with project leadership being placed upon one or more lower-level managers.

Projects

The royal government of Raphania at-whim grants contracts to the Grand Emirate Company of varying scope, scale and necessity. Once granted to the GEC, project deadlines, costs and conceptual ideas are discussed between corporate and government representatives until a final plan is drafted and approved, ultimately by the monarch themselves.
