Grayson Country was an independent state landlocked in the Arstotzkan Union. It broke away on May 7, 2022, sparking the 2022 Arstotzkan Independence Crisis.

Grayson Country was critical of micronationalism and was very critical of the Arstotzkan Union. However, in August 2022, Grayson Country accepted an invitation to join the Tauranga Commonwealth of Micronations and was a strongly active member of the General Assembly.

History

Founding

Grayson Country declared its independence on 7 May 2022, asserting sovereignty and rejecting any negotiations of surrender to the Arstotzkan Union. President Grayson Moore, on May 9, rebuffed all terms proposed in the Declaration of a Diplomatic Embargo towards Grayson Country. Despite concerted efforts by the Arstotzkan Union, which perceived the nascent nation as a threat, Grayson Country persevered. On May 16, the nation defied an ultimatum aimed at compromising its sovereignty and, on the same day, witnessed its leader's resounding electoral victory, culminating in Grayson Moore's ascension as the inaugural High Emperor of Grayson Country.

Subsequently, on May 23, the Arstotzkan Union announced its recognition of Grayson Country as an independent entity. However, this recognition was abruptly rescinded eleven days later when the Arstotzkan Union severed all ties with Grayson Country following an alliance forged with the Confederate Democracy of Gamers. This marked the onset of the Arstotzkan-Alliance War, a protracted conflict lasting 105 days with no clear victor. In the aftermath, Grayson Country, in concert with the Confederate Democracy of Gamers, established the Trans-Tauranga Micronational Partnership, incorporating the original four principal micronations.

Final Months

In the ensuing months subsequent to the Arstotzkan Union's acknowledgment of Grayson Country's independence, doubts arose within the Union regarding the durability of Grayson's sovereignty. On December 10, 2022, General Samantha Johnson, commanding officer of the Arstotzkan Army Corps, proposed annexing Grayson Country and integrating it into the Union. Following deliberations within the Executive Committee and the Arstotzkan Executive War Council, both bodies assented to a military annexation of the solitary state.

On 13 December 2022, the 24th Special Forces Battalion (TSOB) of the 2nd Army Infantry Regiment of the Arstotzkan Army Corps, in collaboration with the 1st Capital Infantry Brigade of the Confederate Democracy of Gamers Department of Defense and the HM of the First Supreme Army of the Ward Empire, initiated a coordinated annexation of Grayson Country, dividing territorial zones evenly between the allied forces.

Re-establishment

Months following the allied occupation of the state, the Arstotzkan Union, with the approval from the other nations, formed the Grayson Administrative Region of the Arstotzkan Union. Although the former nation retained some minor sovereign powers, the Arstotzkan Union enforced total control over the region and still has to this day.

Government and politics

Grayson Country was officially known as a single-man autocratic empire. The nation was originally founded as a republic but when power was consolidated by then President, Grayson Moore, and its executive was turned into a position known as High Emperor, the nation became an autocratic empire.

Executive, legislative and judicial functions were held by the High Emperor and he acted upon laws at his own leisure. No formal governing body was ever formed nor any political government. The nation ran under the tyrannical rule of its leader.

In 2022, the Arstotzkan Union declared that Grayson Country had one of the lowest democracy scores in the Tauranga Micronational Area and was labelled by the Arstotzkan Union and many other nations in the area to be known as an 'Authoritarian regime'.

No known laws were ever passed by the High Emperor or any governing authority in the time the nation existed.
