The Autonomous Socialist Republic of Griffasus is a micronation founded in 2020 within the US state of Florida. It is organized as a libertarian socialist confederation of communes under a semi-direct democracy, with two Co-Presidents and two Co-Chairs.
Griffasus was founded as an attempt to establish a libertarian socialist territory and to show people the power of grassroots democracy, as well as to combat the massive inequality and lack of true democracy prevalent in modern society.

Politics and government
Griffasus is governed under a system of semi-direct democracy. In semi-direct democracy, representatives administer daily governance, but citizens keep the sovereignty, being able to control their governments and laws through different forms of popular action: binding referendum, popular initiative, revocation of mandate, and public consultations. The legislature is made up of directly elected and instantly recallable delegates. The delegates can be revoked and also serve on a 6-month basis. The National Democratic Council serves as the national legislature.
Within each autonomous commune, a more pure form of direct democracy exists, with citizens free to organize and decide legislation and laws within their commune so long as it does not conflict with national laws or with the constitution. Each autonomous commune is also granted the right of self-determination, retaining the right to secede from the confederation at any time they deem fit, following a majority vote.
Law and order
For law enforcement, there exists an autonomous, volunteer police agency, very similar to a neighborhood watch, and a rotating judicial council. There is an emphasis on restorative and transformative justice, as opposed to punitive. The police agency exists to help settle disputes and enforce any laws the community agreed to put into place, and positions are temporary and instantly recallable by the community if an officer is found to be abusing their power.

Military
The military consists of a democratic, volunteer militia, dubbed the National People's Defense Forces, the organization thereof based on soldier committees and general assemblies. Officers in the ordinary sense have been abolished; instead, all commanders are elected and recallable. Regular mass assemblies are held to discuss policy. The militia is based on self-discipline, and all of the militia's disciplinary rules are approved by soldier assemblies. All citizens of the state are also allowed, and even encouraged, to possess a personal firearm to defend themselves and form their own independent community militias if threatened by outside forces.

Economy
Griffasus has a decentralized-planned economy, and has instituted a policy of common ownership over land and natural resources. Markets and currency within the nation have been abolished; instead the investment and allocation of consumer and capital goods is explicated accordingly to an economy-wide plan built and operatively coordinated through a distributed network of disparate economic agents, including workers' and consumers' councils. Luxuries are evenly distributed, and citizens are limited to one house per family, with ownership of multiple houses illegal. Beyond this, domestic trade or commerce is conducted either through a gift economy or through way of barter.

Griffasus' culture is strongly multicultural, feminist, and pro-queer. The constitution states that "Anyone, regardless of their race, gender, sexuality, creed, color or political affiliation, has the right to participate in the decision making of their community in a way determined by their desire and capacity."
