The Kingdom of Gunaka, more commonly known as Gunaka, is a micronation located in England, and was founded on 9 July 2018. The Kingdom of Gunaka prides itself in the safety and protection of its citizens across the globe and has done since the foundation of this nation.

Etymology

The name of Gunaka has an Indian origin, however no members of the government were aware of its meaning prior to making its MicroWiki page. Gunakas meaning is "freedom lover", which greatly described the defensive nature of the Kingdom.

History

Foundation

The Kingdom of Gunaka, formerly the Gunakian Republic upon founding, was made by a group of people from the same school and town who met via a chaotic incident online. The kingdom was originally founded on the principles of freedom, unity, liberty and safety. These principles are what guides the nation today as they always have.

The foundation government met inside of a WhatsApp group occasionally to discuss the plans for laying down the nation and what steps to take in order to uphold the four principles of state.

The old Gunakian Republic was a democratic state with an elected President and Vice President and the nation originally served as an experimental nation, however it later became the framework and foundation for the Kingdom today.

The 1st Coup

Written in perspective of HRH

"Exactly 3 hours after the initial founding of Gunaka, I returned to my computer to check on Gunaka, and one of the Governors, was trying to overthrow me as president. I quickly agreed to the vote with much confidence of success, and in an incredible 5 - 2 vote, I was victorious. I remained in power for the remainder of the republic, whilst beginning to convert to an empire. The expulsion of the main revolutionary took place shortly after his embarrassing defeat and a short celebratory period occurred amongst the remaining government. The republic continued for 2 full weeks before in the end, it ground to a halt as a result of the half term ending, many issues amongst one another, as well as the vice president being found guilty of treasonous acts, reducing the government to me and my advisor, who months later messaged me about it. Surprisingly, I managed to convince our original Internal Security head to re-join the government and I quickly made him vice president. The remainder of the government that left re-joined within the coming weeks, and the work to make Gunaka a functional, strong and united power continued."

The Death of the Republic

Written in perspective of HRH

"Following some months of constant work trying to get Gunaka up and running, divisions formed amongst some of the founding members and others. Combined with the stresses of school and a lack of time to actually spare, Gunaka was essentially defunct. Numerous elements of the government forgot Gunaka existed, and I was left running it all alone. Knowing that a republic without a government to run it democratically would be a quick failure, I jumped to action. I dissolved the government and the senate, and implemented an emergency constitution to turn what was once a democratic republic into an autocratic empire. The republic was dead, and like a pheonix from the ashes, The Gunakian Empire was born!"

Coup D'état

Written in perspective of the HRH

A propaganda poster created by the leader of the revolt, the former "advisor to the president"

"A few weeks passes from the dissolution of the Republic and the rise of the Empire, and what I encountered was something that left me confused"

— HRH

Following weeks of effort to rebuild the nation and give Gunaka its place in micronationalism, the former advisor to the president seemingly remembered the existence of Gunaka and requested to re-join. 4 days passed and seemingly nothing changed; Hell was about to break loose.

"I woke up on a warm, bright Saturday; I instinctively opened discord to check on the server before seeing what appeared to be propaganda littering some channels."

— HRH

A revolution had started. This brief yet troublesome movement saw mixed support, however paled in comparison to the now rejuvenated empire. At first, the Gunakian Empire never even recognised the existence of this revolution movement. However following light skirmishes in the area which the Empire resided in, and the continued spread of this propaganda, the Empire declared a conflict.

For the next few days, infrequent arguments and "battles" were waged all over the place, and soon a sense of confusion emerged from both sides about what was even occurring.

Not too long after this wave of confusion, the two leaders sat down and discussed as to what the plan would be. The revolutionary state later became known as Cogorgia. Later, it was discovered that the motives for breaking away from the Empire was due to the conversion from democracy to autocracy, and the leader believed it would later cause issues with individuals rights.

— Noah, leader of Cogorgia prior to dissolution, Cogorgias Declaration of Independence, Section 1: Rights

Following arbitration from some members of the Alliance of the Micronations at the time (Most notably the Kingdom of Salanda, Yara and the Fesmarian Empire), the Treaty of Warminster was signed which brought about the end of this minor conflict and the autonomy of Cogorgia, on the conditions that Cogorgia remained a crown dependency of the empire.

Reachout Era

Written in perspective of the HRH

"Following the revolution, in order to settle peoples concerns regarding the upholding of the 4 principles, a new constitution was drafted, although I managed to implement some new policies to ensure my power remains absolute. One of these new policies were that Division Heads may not make acts such as implementation without approval from the Emperor. I needed to be sure that my own government would not turn on me again. Not after the treasonous former actions that occurred, regretfully. We opened a new discord server, and began holding meetings at regular intervals. All went well, and we began to prosper. We even started applying to micronational organisations such as The Alliance of the Micronations and MPDO. Although we applied for the Cupertino Alliance, we were rejected. This wasn't a surprise to me, We were pretty barebones."

The New Era

Following the events of The Revival, the monarch began inputting serious efforts to attempt to revive and grow the micronation through many means. Continuing to reach out to new and old micronations, recruiting new citizens and working to make Gunaka more noticeable, in hopes of ushering in a golden age. In the process, Gunaka saw its way into diplomatic ties with more new micronations.

Ave Imperator! Vivat Regnum Gunaka!

Following debate regarding the identity of Gunaka, a census showed that the term "Empire" was more archaic than a Kingdom. So in a surprise move, it was announced that the constitution would be remade by a select team of specialists for Gunaka. The titles of Emperor/Empress were transformed to Imperius in a more gender-neutral term.

Politics and government

At the moment, Gunaka is using an twin-parliamentary system of governance with a constitutional monarch, with the Imperius at the centre and with Citizens have the right to send in suggestions, where they are put forward to the National Assembly for review and for debate where should it be found sufficient, it would be passed onto the Upper House known as the Ministry Council where it would be analysed and if found insufficient, it would be returned to the National Assembly with notes until it is sufficient. The National Assembly consists of elected representatives from all of the States and Integrated Nations as well as provinces who gather to discuss the peoples petitions and concerns. The Ministry Council consists of elected Representative Chairs of each ministry to represent these ministries and their views on the function of the nation.

Political parties

As of the 22nd of December, 2023, Political parties were legalised after the Political Lockdown Act wore off.

Law and order

Gunaka has a negligible police force, and policing is mostly left in the hands of the Royal Armed Forces, however such a low crime rate has led to a redundancy in policing. There are plans announced for the next milestone to reform the National Police Force of Gunaka as a group under the GSSDF

Four Principles of State

The Kingdom of Gunaka, since its founding as the Republic of Gunaka, dedicated itself to following what became known as the "Four Principles of State." These principles would be the compass that the nation would follow in all decisions. These principles are:

Freedom

Every citizen of Gunaka across the globe is entitled to freedom from slavery, danger and anything else that infringes upon the personal rights of humans. This principle puts the safety and security of the nation and it’s citizens first in any scenario and acts as the guide point of security for government decisions.

Unity

It is the unity of the Kingdom that keeps its citizens safe from being discriminated against, being isolated or segregated, being attacked or harassed, or any negative action against them that is motivated by any differences between them. In Gunaka, all are equal regardless of sex, identity, creed, appearance, race, or anything else that makes someone separate from others. It is our differences as humans that make us individuals and makes us unique. Gunaka seeks to demolish the walls that separate us as people and encourage everyone to celebrate what makes us all unique!

Liberty

Concurrent with one of the reasons for the foundation of Gunaka, the welfare of its citizens comes first. Here we believe that everyone is entitled to a voice and an opinion no matter what, and everyone is free to be who they want to be, to do what they want to do.

Safety

As prior mentioned, safety is a priority within Gunaka and the protection of its citizens, wildlife, territory and everything else within the nation is taken incredibly seriously.

National Assembly

The National Assembly of Gunaka is a council formed from elected representatives of each region and state of the Kingdom. This assembly is responsible for the review of proposed laws and acts, for which each region gets 1 vote and 1 vote only to ensure absolute fairness. The National Assembly is chaired by the current reigning Imperius who is responsible for maintaining decorum and order within any session of the assembly. Additionally, civilians may observe in any session, as well as press services and media present. Any civilian may volunteer for a 2 month post as the Assembly Clerk, responsible for recording and transcribing events of the assembly.

Ministry Council

Once every year, each ministry nominates an elect head who represents their ministry in the ministry council, and hold full responsibility over their ministry. Within the council, the heads may cast their vote on legislation that passes up through the National Assembly.

Military

Gunaka aims to utilise gel blasters with biodegradable, eco-friendly rounds for all types of combat to avoid serious harm and ecological damages. We have a functional army, navy and air force.

Navy

The Royal Navy ceased operations as of January 1st following a naval incident resulting in the destruction of 2 vessels. However new proposed plan to regenerate the Royal Navy have been approved and our primary shipyard (The Were Shipyard Complex) will soon commence operations to build a new fleet.

Air Force

The Gunakian Air force consists of 3 divisions, these include the Gunakian Fleet Aviation, Gunakian Home Defence Aviation Force and the Tactical Air Deployment Unit

GSSDF

The GSSDF or Gunakian Strategic Self Defence Forces is an independent group that operates by the GSSDF charter and the Gunakian Constitution article for the defence of the state. This group operates above the Royal Armed Forces and operates directly under the Imperius, The Joint Chiefs of the Royal Armed Forces and the chair of the G50, as well as the elected Ministry Head of Military. This force is bound by how it may not be used in any offensive capacity.
