Honorary citizen of Vishwamitra, as prescribed under clause (3) of Article 5 of the Constitution of Vishwamitra is a titular and special status granted on the pleasure of the Rashtradhyaksh on the recommendation from the Ministry of Home Affairs upon those for extraordinary and meritorious service to the nation. Honorary citizens are barred from holding public offices but they can be appointed to advisory and diplomatic roles by the Monarch. Most diplomats accredited to foreign nations are granted honorary citizen following their appointed. In addition to this, ennoblements are also accompanied by the grant of honorary citizenship.

History

The first honorary citizenship of Vishwamitra was granted on 14 August 2020 upon Oscar I, Emperor-King of Karnia-Ruthenia on the occasion of his birthday in distinction of his friendship and contributions towards Vishwamitra.
