Donkrea, officially the Imperial Republic of Donkrea was a micronation mostly located in the Kolniari Sector, but the nation also had claims in Arkansas, USA. For all of its existence as an independent nation, it was a satellite state of the Sprinske Empire, and operated in a similar manner to Eastern Bloc countries before the fall of the Soviet Union.
Donkrea was created on 31 October 2020 by the treaty of Spritsnasque out of territory formerly controlled by the Sprinske Communist Republic. The country was generally very unstable, with micronational terrorism being a major problem in Donkrea in 2020 and 2021, followed by government inactivity for the rest of its existence. The nation was given to the Ìmpireachd ùr na h-Alba and became a crowned colony of that nation on 3 September 2022, just after the failed Donkrean Re-Ignition.
History
The Imperial Republic of Donkrea, formerly known as the Province of Donkrea under the Sprinske Communist Republic’s rule, was granted independence by the Treaty of Spritsnasque on 31 October 2020. The nation was created as a satellite state of the Sprinske Empire, and has a similar status to Commonwealth nations.
Micronational Terrorism in Donkrea
Donkrea was known especially for micronational terrorism. From late 2020 to mid 2021, Donkrea was home to the micronational terrorist organisation known as the Gorralic Communist Army. The Gorralic Communist Army attacked the nation at least once per week for most of it’s early existence. These attacks often came in the form of guerrilla warfare. The aim of the organisation was to overthrow the Donkrean Government and replace it with the old government of the Sprinske Communist Republic. At one point in December 2020, the nation was close to collapse, and the terrorist organisation nearly took over, but the Sprinske Empire announced a ‘protection occupation’ and effectively invaded the country. This caused a lot of damage to the Gorralic Communist Army, and attacks became much less frequent. The organisation was dissolved in May 2021.
Modern Era (May 2021 - August 2022)
Following the dissolution of the Gorralic Communist Army, Donkrea has changed dramatically in government. It stayed neutral in the Sprinske Civil War, but the Prime Minister of Donkrea unexpectedly resigned in January 2022, and a new government was never formed. The nation became anarchist in February 2022, but still kept the Emperor of the Sprinske Empire as Head of State. In Donkrea, the Head of State is known as the Laird of Donkrea, the title usually coincides with the title of Sprinske Emperor. The nation’s future was unknown following the end of the Sprinske Civil War, and it was rumoured that the country would be dissolved by the Treaty of Rio De Sprinske in August 2022, but then it was announced that Donkrea would be sold for Δ100. The sale would start on 17 August 2022, and end on 1 January 2023.
Donkrean re-ignition
On 7 August, William M Steeger contacted the Emperor of Sprinske to ask for the position of Prime Minister of Donkrea. Emperor Aaron I agreed, believing it to be a much better idea than to sell or dissolve the nation, and a new government was set up, but the Donkrean Re-Ignition was short-lived, and it failed in the end, with the nation becoming a Crowned Colony of the Ìmpireachd ùr na h-Alba on 3 September 2022.
Government and Politics
The Donkrean Prime Minister is the Head of Government of Donkrea. They serve for 4 months, and have most of the power. The Head of State is the Laird of Donkrea, a title that coincides with the title of Sprinske Emperor. The Laird of Donkrea is a mostly ceremonial title, but it strengthens the connection between the Sprinske Empire and the Imperial Republic of Donkrea.
