Rakozia, officially the Imperial Republic of Rakozia (Rakozian: Imperąjal Republika ǫ Rakozia) (abbreviated as 'RAK'), is a constitutional monarchy located in the Willamette Valley Micronational Sector.It is bordered by the Imperial Republic of Traverria to the north and northwest, the United States of America to the south, the Kingdom of New Clairciel to the east, and within (as an enclave), and the Federal Monarchy of Corkerium from within (as an enclave).The Willamette River makes up the western border, while Johnson Creek makes up a portion of the southern border. The government is a constitutional monarchy based off the Traverrian system, and the official languages are English and Rakozian.
History
Rakozia was founded on 7 December 2021, after the First Emperor Cole Harris was offered a proposition to become a Traverrian citizen by Traverrian Emperor Kazho Kalreta (Andrew I). Originally, Emperor Cole was just Cole, and was fascinated by micronations. eventually he decided after almost 3 weeks that he would declare his independence from the United States, peacefully with Traverria of course and claim the borough which he lived in,--the former Reed district of Portland, USA-- as the "first Rakozian province" (now known as "Reed", one of the 5 current states). This interim name was used from January, 2022, - February, 2022, until the modern name "Rakozia" was created. Emperors Cole and Andrew held a series of informal naming conferences'for over 4 weeks before finalising a title for the newly formed state. Over the next couple of months into the Cascadian springtime, Cole worked with Andrew, and the Traverrian Chief of Armed Forces Soto Ngone (Elliott Thorne), to further develop Rakozia's culture. The Iconic red, white, and Green banner came into use around March, 2022.
Fun fact!: There were over 50 unique flags proposed for Rakozia before the iconic Golden Lion was created. Most of these designs have sadly been lost, but some still survived, and lay rest in the Imperial archives.
Rakozia in the Traverrian-Bambian War:
Rakozia had disliked Bambia since the founding of the nation. All the way back since when it was not even called Bambia, it was called "Nazione dei Protetti", which in Italian , translates to, "Nation of the Protected". The tensions between them and Rakozia dangerously heightened in early spring of 2022, when Bambia used an offensive Nazi-inspired flag. This flag was used for the official flag for a brief stint,and was their as a potential neo-nazi! Emperor Cole, --coming from Jewish, Polish, and Italian heritage, sought to remove this presence, as it was extremely offensive to his cultures, and brought up dark dark times in history, which these people thought were "jokes". Rakozia and Traverria quickly formulated plans to undermine the nation and eventually invade. Though it was Traverria which invaded the territory of Bambia on June 5th, Rakozia was central in the planning of the day, the infiltration of Bambia, and was a diplomatic supporter of the operation. Not much is public record of this event, but Rakozia's involvement was a key part of the success of the opperation. Since that date, Bambia has thrown out their reputation, and political ideas, and reformed into a new nation, samely titled, almost a year later. Their future is unwritten, and unproven, but they have become reborn.
Expansion:
In the Spring of 2022, Emperor Cole began to expand the country's government systems, as well as establish firm land claims over the region which they declared independent. On February 17, Emperor Cole named Maya Faulhaber as Rakozia's First Prime Minister and Evan Jueneman to be the Chief of Armed Forces.
Short after, in March of 2022, they annexed Eastmoreland and Sellwood-Moreland neighbourhoods of the city of Portland, USA. Prime Minister Faulhaber then started a campaign to seize the Brentwood-Darlington neighbourhood of Portland, and establish her own territory, called Clairciel, (which later became independent in the winter of 2023.) Worried of separation from the mainland, several Rakozian officials, including the Emperor of Rakozia, offered to annex Traverria's southern panhandle, offering to re-connect Traverria's (former) enclave, Rletezha-zho, "Reedland Province" *(Traverrian occupied Corkerium), to their mainland. Negotiations went on for months until Traverria made a proposition to designate the entire panhandle as a free-passage zone for Rakozians that would be administered by Traverria. Rakozia, seeing this as a a fair deal, accepted.
Later is the summer of 2022, Rakozia annexed a new Specially Administrated District of Rakozia, or S.A.D.R. ("say-der"), called "Elk Rock Island" from the U.S. This new colony is a Nature district, and a national park, and not urbanised as of today. It is a protected zone for Rakozian, and neighbouring nation's wildlife.
In the winter of 2022, Traverrian Chief of Armed Forces Soto Ngone (Elliott Thorne), proposed an edition to the decision of the Traverrian panhandle dispute. The proposition was a land swap. The Traverrian side would offer the Woodstock Panhandle, upon the terms that the Oaks Bottom nature reserve would be reciprocated. Rakozia was at first hesitant, as it was one of the great natural reserves in the nation. Debates went on for about 5 months until the 15th April, 2023, when both nations agreed upon the terms proposed by Soto Ngone. The two pieces of land were immediately transferred, and their respective governments incorporated their presences. Later during the separation of Clairciel, Rakozia would see some debates over the panhandle territory.
Claircielais Independence:
April 11th, 2023. Tensions explode within the Sector, as Maya Faulhaber Declares the autonomous region of Clairciel Independent From Rakozia. Proclaiming herself "Queen of the New Kingdom of Clairciel", Maya starts her uprising. At first peaceful, but later to be revealed, that plans of war were underway. Rakozia was on the edge of civil war. Debates over independence, and frantic attempts to calm the blazing fire of the movement lasted days. Queen Maya, the former PM of Rakozia, proclaims her plan for conquest. The newly incorporated state of the Woodstock Panhandle, was sieged by Claircilelais claims to its entirety. Emperor Cole I did not take it lightly. Stealing land, no one would put up with this. He wasn't either. He quickly got to work on negotiations, and arguments arose about land. Clairciel's completely illegitimate claims did not stand a chance, and yet they persisted. They claimed a large portion of south-eastern Traverrian land. This angered Traverria, who is an ally of Rakozia, as they joined the fiasco.Angry thrashes of legitimacy were shot around for 3 days, and 3 nights, before a proposition arose. Clairciel were angered to the brink of declaring war. They were not going to give up, even if it meant violence. Queen Maya made several speeches of her intended battle, if Rakozia, and Traverria did not give her what she wanted. Rakozia and its allies did not bend an inch. Standing their ground, Rakozia began its push back, by creating "Operation Hillsboro". Rakozia created a front that made it look like they had just claimed large amounts of land, to overpower the new Nation. Seeing this as a threat, Queen Maya began to look for solutions. Eventually, neither side subsides. A proposition brought up by the leader of the micronation of Corkerium was anounced. Rakozia were to grant an enclave to Clairciel, which would only encompass the block that which the Queen lived on (which was inside of the new Rakozian state). In exchange, Clairciel would return Traverria's land, and cede the stolen panhandle to Rakozia. Emperor Cole thought about the idea long and hard, and eventually, with the collaboration with Traverria, and agreed. On April 15th, 2023, the deal was made. The map was set, and the new nation gained independence.
Etymology & Vexillology
The name Rakozia comes from the Rakozian word "Rakos", which means river. The word is inspired by the Czech word "Rákos" for "reed" (the Aquatic plant). This was used originally to name the state of Reed, which was later made a state after Rakozia expanded. The name has two meanings. Roughly translated, it means "Land of rivers", or "Land of Reed(s)". Both are accepted. The term "imperial republic" was derived from the nation having the ideals of a democratic republic, whilst having the Emperor as head of state.
Vexillology:
The Rakozian flag is a Horizontal tricolour, (green, white, and crimson red from top to bottom), with a golden Congo Lion with 2 tails, and a crown stands in the centre of the design. The green bar represents Rakozia's wildlife, all of the forests, all the flora and fauna, and all of the natural wealth of the nation. The green stripe also represents prosperity, and commerce. The white bar in the middle represents the clouds, the heavy overcast of the region, the snow of our wintertime, and the peace that Rakozia strives for. The final stripe stands for our bravery, our courage, and our strength as a nation. The red also signifies the sacrifice of our people to give us our free homeland. The charge of the flag is a golden Congo Lion, standing towards the left of the flag. This symbol is the symbol of the empire. The Lion represents monarchy, the golden colour represents the glory of the Emperor, while the left-ward facing posture represents protection, preservation, and hope in the belief that our monarchy will not wither to the test of time. The two tales are a folk symbol. Outside the front of the Imperial palace.
Geography
The geography of Rakozia is similar to the surrounding city of Portland, though it is a very urbanized micronation. It is bordered by the Willamette River to the west, which is the main waterway of the nation, though Johnson Creek and the Springwater Corridor are also important waterways within the nation. Rakozia is located in the city of Portland Oregon, and is a nation within the Willamette Valley Micronational Sector. The geography of Rakozia is characterised by low hills, tall green trees, and lots of bodies of water.
Climate:
The climate of Rakozia is a warm-summer Mediterranean climate (Köppen Csb).Summers are typically hot and dry, while winters are gray and wet. Temperatures typically range from 82.3 °F in the summer to 36.2 °F in the winter. The highest temperature ever recorded in Rakozia was 116 °F (recorded before the establishment of the nation). In terms of Humidity, and greenery, the climate tends to vary based on proximity to the Willamette River, as well as wind levels.
Rainfall is heavily concentrated between October and April, with winter days typically being gray and rainy. Snow usually falls once or twice a year, though accumulations typically don't exceed four inches annually. Droughts and wildfires are common in the summer, and recently Rakoza has had a long stint of poor air quality or extreme temperatures in the summer months. The highest recorded temperature in Traverria is 116 °F on June 28 2021, while the lowest was 18 °F, recorded on December 22nd 2022.

Economics
Rakozia's economy is one of many different sectors. The biggest of these being the tourism. Oaks Amusement Park'sits on the western coastline, and is an important attraction for people visiting Rakozia. Rakozia also has an abundance of national parks, all which have beautiful views, flora, and fauna. Rakozia also boasts a large restaurant industry, with many different cultural cuisines featured. Rakozia's sporting attractions also make up a portion of our economy, with the Crystal Springs golf course taking the title of the largest sporting complex in the nation. Some of Rakozia's potential exports are art, food, literature, education --via the University of Rakozia--, agriculture --as there are many gardens in Rakozia, including one owned by the Emperor in the imperial palace--, music, and many more.
Rakozia uses a mixed economic system known as 'Free market Socialism'. This system uses socialist policies, --meaning universal healthcare, and benefits such as government assisted aid,-- while also having government regulation of a semi-capitalistic market, that is ultimately for free trade.
Rakozian Sol (Š):
In the spring of 2022, Rakozia minted their very first currency, the Rakozian Sol (Š). The currency has around the same value as the Japanese Yen (Š1 = ¥1). There are 5 bank notes in Rakozian Sols. Š100, Š200, Š500, Š700, and Š1000. The new currency revolutionised micronational banknotes with its intricate designs, and by featuring Rakozia's national landmarks. The first emperor, Emperor Cole the I is also featured on the Š700 bill. Rakozia also used the Cascadian-Willamette Volta (CWV) for international trade with other nations who also use Volta.
Government and Politics
Rakozia is a constitutional monarchy, with an Emperor as the head of the nation. The Emperor is in charge of leading the nation, with duties of making laws, trying criminals, and with other things like acts, and military action. basically everything runs through the emperor. There is a Prime Minister in Rakozia's government, as well as a judicial/legislative branch called the Rakozian Imperial Council. There are a couple of political parties of the nation. The current party in power is the Imperialist party of Rakozia, which the emperor is the founder. Another notable, and second largest party being the Rakozian Supra-prestiegist party, co-founded by the emperor as well, also has a large influence on the political world in Rakozia. Rakozia does not have that many political issues becuase of our small population, so we only really need a few pieces to run officially.
Rakozian Imperial Council:
The Imperial Council is the legislative and judicial branch of Rakozia. It comprises of 4 seats, each elected every 5 years by the people of Rakozia , and participating dual citizens. These 4 propose the bills, and verdicts in creating legislature, and in court cases. Each representative is aloud to voice a proposition, and the council then gives a vote on which plans to consider. The Emperor, is usually a tie breaker in those cases, and also is in charge of deciding which propositions will stand, based on the votes of the people, and on their right to lead their country. At the conclusion of council trials, and sessions, the court will vote on their ideas for a decision, and the emperor acts in favor. Ultimately, executive decision does lie in the emperor though. This system works when a nation has a small population, and that we do, so the best interest of the people is always carried out. Citizens may also propose acts to the floor of the Council through raising the issue to a council member.

Nations who earn recognition by Rakozia are the only nations are deemed necessary to world politics. Nations who we deem acceptable to international culture, and to be recognise. Rakozia recognises most UN members, as well as observers, as well as a bunch of other micronations.

The military of Rakozia consists of 4 main branches. These Branches are each headed by a high military official, as well as the Emperor. the branches --and their chief officials, are as follows...

The head of the military is the Chief of Armed Forces (currently Evan Jueneman) who also holds the title of Grand Marshal of the Rakozian Army.
Rakozia's Naval fleet has one known vessel, the RNS - Rakozia.
The Air force of Rakozia is made up of 3 aircraft. All three being remotely controlled UAV systems.
Military bases in Rakozia are rare, since the Military is mainly used as law enforcement, but the main one to be noted is Forta Kaskędija, or, Fort Cascadia in the university state, in the capital city, at the Reed Canyon Bridge.
Foreign Relations:
Rakozia's foreign relations sphere is small, but within its own community, Rakozia has a large political influence. Currently Rakozia only has 1 official alliance, with the Imperial Republic of Traverria, and is also recognised by 5 nations, pushing for 6. Rakozia also has connections to the global micronational world, as Emperor Cole is also a citizen of the Grand Republic of Cycoldia, which is a very famous micronation within the community. Rakozia has plans in the future to expand to more alliances, and possibly attend a MicroCon in the future, if one is held close enough.
There are some nations which we do not along with so much.These being because of either conflicting, or offensive ideologies, or political separation (declarations of independence).
As of right now, Rakozia does not have a huge foreign politics priority, because we are more focused towards internal enterprise, but we are very active, and interactive with the micronational environment.
Culture
Rakozian Culture takes inspiration from many things. At the founding of the nation, Rakozia was a part of the Imperial Republic of Traverria, and so this is a major inspiration for the country. Traverria is inspired by eastern Asian culture. Rakozia after declaring independence, decided to become inspired by European culture. Emperor Cole the I himself comes from many long lines of ancient European blood. English, Italian, Sicilian, Polish, Romanian, German, Russian, and Jewish lines all a part of the Emperor's identity. Many different European cultures are held within one mighty, noble historian of an emperor, that founded Rakozia with his own culture in his vision. To create a nation that in which all of of his bloodline would have an influence.
Rakozian National / Cultural symbols:
Heraldry is a very important piece of Rakozian culture. Rakozian symbolism is a driving force of national pride, and patriotism. Whether you see symbols such as the noble golden lion, on the iconic Rakozian tricolor, or the little intricate designs which adorn the faces of the Rakozian Sols, or even our national motto, "Wrą ja o Krãčňe" which translated, means "Fly like a crow". All of these things have meaning, and all are important to the micronation of Rakozia.
Rakozian symbols are a very tasteful mix. The symbols are inspired by many European cultures such as English, Polish, Italian, and sometimes you'll catch a glimpse of that green maple in our symbolism, and wonder, "whats up with the weird Canadian thing?" Well, my friends, I am about to explain...
- The Rakozian lion is a symbol of the Rakozian empire. The monarchy is represented through this lion, as this animal is the symbol of royalty in much of Europe. It is featured to put pride into Rakozians, so that the people can have a symbol that guides their regal nation through the years. Rakozians take a lot of pride in their banner.
- Rakozia also adores the crow as our national animal. These extremely intelligent, keen, cunning birds are the pride of urban ornithology, and are said to be 'Nature's Rakozian', if the nation was an animal. These Crows imbue peace (not to most people, but hey, I'm not talking about regular people), tranquillity, and hidden glory from within. they are an extremely important symbol to us. (And they're the Emperors favourite animal, for those same reasons.) The crow is viewed as aconduit of good luck in Rakozia. That is why you will never see a Rakozian disrespect a crow, as in turn that is veeeerrrryyyy bad luck. An omen of misfortune in fact.
- You will see other national symbols such as the crown of the empire featured on multiple seals, and banners. This crown represents the divinity of the leader. This crown exists so long as the Empire exists, symbolising the sacred position of emperor of the nation, and the prosperous future of Rakozia's great leaders.
- Maple leaves are an important part of Rakozian folklore. In the courtyard at the imperial Palace in St. Harrisburg, there are two maple trees that form a canopy. According to a Rakozian legend, It is said that the first emperor once chopped a limb off of these maples, and started a fire with them in a storm. The fire lasted through the night and into the morning, providing warmth and light to the helpless fledgling nation. It is said that nature provided the emperor with the light he needed, so he could go on to found Rakozia by the will of the world itself. This symbol is celebrated as our national tree, and as a popular folk symbol.
- The Star of David's importance comes from the Imperial family. Emperor Cole I's Jewish heritage is of high importance to him. He wanted to make the Jewish culture a part of Rakozia, so the Star of David is used as a symbol on things such as the Rakozian Sol. This also displays the emperor's family's Jewish history, which is celebrated in Rakozia.
