Socialist Republic of Indokistan

Republic of Indokistan (Indonesian: Republik Indokistan) was a micronation founded in 16 September 2010 in Jakarta, Indonesia. The founding of this country marked the start of the history of Indokistan, and its date of founding was celebrated by future forms of Indokistan as its establishment day. Indokistani historians later dubbed the country as Indokistani First Republic (Indonesian: Republik Indokistan Pertama) to differentiate it with the later incarnation of Republic of Indokistan that differed significantly from the first republic. The country most remarkable distinction from later forms of Indokistan was its non-serious nature, caused by its founders unawareness of micronationalism as a term to describe what their activities of founding Indokistan was.

The country oversaw consolidation on many aspects of its activities, primarily on its political basis. The first republic also set the future region of Travenoras as the heart of Indokistani micronationalism.

The first republic unexpectedly ended in December 2010 after a coup by the Communist Party resulted on establishment of the Socialist Republic of Indokistan. The collapse of the Socialist Republic and establishment of the Second Republic in January 2011 later turned the tide for Indokistani as a micronational movement, as its founders began to consider Indokistan as a serious micronation and abandon the initial unserious nature of Indokistan.

History

Indokistan was founded as a joke by Farhan Abdurrahman, Dicky L. K., and Nabil Ihsan in September 2010. Indokistan final form as a parliamentary republic was the result of changes of government forms intially proposed by its founders, which includes a "communist commonwealth" or a "sultanate commonwealth", before settled to the republican form.

Nabil later penned the founding declaration of Indokistan and Farhan and Dicky consented to sign the declaration, therefore starting Indokistani micronational activity in 16 September, despite its founders unawareness of micronationalism until early 2011. Indokistani founders then successfully persuade and attract their friends to join Indokistan, with Rizky Aulia joined as the first non-founder citizen in 20 September. Fascinated by ideas of Indokistan, other friends later joined the country.

Politics

Under meritocratic basis, the main leadership of the country was divided by the founders: Farhan Abdurrahman as president; Dicky L. K. as vice president; and Nabil Ihsan as prime minister. On its first month, a cabinet was successfully formed, comprising of ministries and government-owned company leaders.

The period also saw the emergence of State Book (Indonesian: Buku Negara) as the quasi-constitution of Indokistan. Founders, then citizens, had free access to the book, on which they could propose anything for the country by writing their ideas and proposals to the book. The book was used as the source of the highest law of the country, which dictates national policies and government decisions.

Political parties also developing during the early days, with 5 parties formed - that later shrank into 3 parties after inter-party agreement. Those parties are National Party, Communist Party, and Islamic Party. Rivalry between those parties proved disastrous, as it contributes to the fall of the country.

End of First Republic

The First Republic government was overthrown after a power struggle that ends in a coup staged by the Communist Party of Indokistan, that previously became the most powerful party inside the country in December 2010. The coup was likely inspired by the Indonesian 30 September Movement, yet it was successful. Failure to resist the coup caused the Communists to successfully establish the Socialist Republic of Indokistan, violently ended the First Republic.
