The International Workers Congress, often abbreviated as the IWC, is a international organization comprising of socialist and anti-capitalist micronations and political parties coalescing in order to advance the cause of international socialism and workers' rights. It was initially founded on 16 August 2021 and lasted until 24 September 2022. It was re-established on 9 August 2023 by the Commonwealth of Faltree and the Aleunnic Workers' Republic for the declared purpose of advancing the cause of global socialism.
The current General Secretary is Hunt Powell. Membership in the International Workers Congress is admittance only through the Discord server. Though only officially broadly socialist, the IWC is Marxist-Leninist leaning, anti-fascist, and anti-imperialist. Despite this leaning, the IWC has accepted a wide variety of socialist states and parties.
History
First iteration
The first iteration of the International Workers Congress was founded on 16 August 2021 by the State of Faltree, Ausverian Volksrepublik, and People's Republic of Todt Hill. It saw relatively little activity, only adding the Aleunnic Workers' Republic and Socialist Republic of Kiba to its membership. It was dissolved on 24 September 2022.
Second iteration
The second iteration of the International Workers Congress was founded on 9 August 2023 by the Commonwealth of Faltree and the Aleunnic Workers' Republic in response to the perceived threat of global capitalism. The International Workers Congress issued a joint declaration on 29 August 2023 regarding the 2023 Nigerien crisis, wherein it declared support for Niger, Burkina Faso, and Mali against neocolonial forces in West Africa.[1] Four members of the Congress were expelled from August to October, following a series of internal processes to crackdown on social-chauvinism exhibited by former members. On 18 October 2023, the International Workers Congress issued a joint declaration wherein it refused to recognize the legitimacy of Israel and declared its support for the people of Palestine.[2]
