Background

Throughout 2018 and 2019, the office of Prime Minister tended to be an appointed role, with the then incumbent prime minister Collin De' Palractus themselves being appointed by predecessor Charles Burgardt.

Palractus announced the elections on the 12th after serving nearly three months in office.

Candidates

Three candidates stepped forward within the day, and were placed onto the ballot. Acknowledging the short notice, the leader stated "If you didn't actually explicitly tell me you were running, too bad you don't have a choice this is actually depressing. We don't have parties and not everybody knew they were running/gave a resume so I trust all of you to make an informed decision."

Pingu Sama

Pingu Sama arrived in the Commonwealth of Sayvillian Regions discord server in December 2019, and was granted West Sayvillian citizenship due to the then-active CSR Reconstruction Proposal.[1] Prior to their candidacy for the election, they were uninvolved with the nations affairs.

Sertor Valentinus

Sertor Valentinus became involved in the affairs of the Sayville Sector due to his involvement in the governance of the Principality of Sayville, alongside other micronational projects founded by Burgardt. He eventually became involved in the nation around December,[1] and placed his candidacy as soon as the announcement was made.

Justin T.

Justin T. was involved with several previous affairs with Burgardt on NationStates, holding an active presence on the website,[2] alongside holding diplomatic affairs with micronations such as the Kingdom of New Paloma. They had also signed up as a Prime Ministerial candidate.

Campaigns

Campaigning for the election was minimal, as the vote was largely rushed. The King Emeritus Sekhmet officially endorsed Pingu as a Prime Ministerial candidate. Valentinus made a joking campaign speech, that was relatively unsuccessful.

Prepare for trouble!
And make it double!
To protect the masses from unjust laws!
To unite all peoples within our nation!
To denounce the evils of evil and corruption!
To extend our reach to the stars above!
Indo!
Malaysia !
Team Indo blasts off at the speed of light!
Vote now, or prepare to fight!
Sertor Valentinus!
That's right

Justin refrained from campaigning within the election.

Voting

The vote was held in a channel on the Commonwealth of Sayvillian Regions' discord server. All West Sayvillian citizens were notified for the voting, which lasted until Midnight EST.
