Mull (/ˈMull/ M-ull (Listen) (help·info)), more commonly known as the Kingdom of Mull, is a micronation and independent sovereign state located in Southern Ontario, Canada.
The nation was founded, and proclaimed an independent sovereign state on 11 December 2000 by HRH Shawn Sovereign Prince of the Principality of Woodlandia, eldest son of the current head of state, Her Majesty Tracy, Queen of the Kingdom of Mull. The state is governed by a constitutional monarchy, with an elected Prime Minister, who serves as the head of government.
According to the Montevideo Convention, the Kingdom of Mull is a legitimate nation. The kingdom is not officially recognized by the Canadian Government or any member of the United Nations. Government officials belonging to the Kingdom of Mull, hand chosen by Her Majesty The Queen and the Prime Minister, are working on the development of a working government, while actively working to engage in positive diplomatic relations with other sovereign states.
Etymology
The word 'Mull' derives from the Anglicization of the Gaelic Maol, a term for a rounded hill, summit, or mountain, bare of trees (it has also been used, in Gaelic, to refer to a forehead, or to a shaved head). As an adjective, the word is used to indicate something which is bare, dull, or bald. In Scotland, the term is most commonly used in the southwest, where it is often applied to headlands or promontories, and often more specifically, for the tip of a promontory or peninsula.
