Platte Lake (Esperanto: Plata Lago; French: Platte Lac), officially the Kingdom of Platte Lake (Esperanto: Regno de Plata Lago; French: Royaume de Platte Lac), is a micronation claiming sovereignty over 31.678 mi2 (82.045 km2) of land in the northwestern portion of the Lower Peninsula in Michigan, United States, centered around Platte Lake and Little Platte Lake. It also contains Loon Lake and Mud Lake, as well as a portion of Rush Lake. However, despite its claims, Platte Lake's territory is entirely on the internet, as its owner does not have the funds to buy up land for the country. It was founded around June 2019 by King Benjamin, although it has only settled on its current form of government in March 2021. It is an elective constitutional monarchy, led by King Benjamin. However, no elections have been held yet, as the only citizen of Platte Lake is the King himself.
