The Kingdom of Vatolean, more commonly known as simply Vatolean, is a micronation primarily located in Denmark, with some small parts located in other places. The nation is made up of 7 non-contiguous territories and a population of 29 citizens.

The Kingdom's form of government is a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary system. The current king is Ewing I, who has ruled since Vatolean was founded on 13 July 2012. Vatolean's official capital is Copenhagen.

Etymology and terminology

"Vatolean" comes from the Spanish province of Valencia.

History

The Kingdom of Vatolean was founded by Ewing Leon on 13 July 2012

In 2013 BNN was founded as the public broadcasting corporation.

Politics

The Kingdom of Vatolean has a constitutional monarchy where the Monarch is the Head of State. The current Monarch is Ewing I. The constitution of the Kingdom is called the Main Law and it sets out the Monarch's powers as and the government system. The Main Law can only be amended if it is approved by both a public referendum and the Parliament.

Legislative power is invested in the Parliament, which consists of the King-in-Parliament, the upper house, known as the Senate, and the lower house, the Folketing. By default, legislation - taking the form Acts of Parliament - only holds effect over the four countries, but can also be enacted over the Kingdom's colonies if this is explicitly stated.

Government

The Monarch of Vatolean is known as the King if male, and Queen if female. The position is hereditary.

The Parliament is bicameral. The upper house is the Senate. The lower house is the Folketing, consisting of a six MPs who are elected under party list proportional representation. Parliament can legislate through Acts of Parliament, which must be passed by both houses and then given consent by the Monarch.

Vatolean has a parliamentary system, the Government, the executive branch, is made up of and is accountable to Parliament. The head of government is the Prime Minister, who must have the confidence of the Folketing, and is usually the leader of the largest party or coalition within the House.
