The Kingdom of Westwick, commonly known as Westwick, is a self-proclaimed sovereign city state commonly referred to as a micronation in Asia. It lies at the northwest corner of Penang Island. The total area of Westwick is 32 acres, with an estimated population in 2022 of 30.
The Kingdom of Westwick is an absolute monarchy. The monarch, High King Marcus von Westwick, has reigned since 2022. The capital and largest city is Duriham, where the Royal Residence of Westwick is located. Other major cities include Wincot, Hamilton and Aberton.
Etymology
The name Westwick is a combination of "West" and "Wick" and literally translates into "West Bay". This is because the Kingdom is situated at a bay in Penang.
History
During the 19th Century, Sir Choo Hooi Teong, progenitor of the Royal Family of Westwick and a wealthy landlord from China moved to a coastal village in Penang due to the collapse of the Qing Empire. The Kingdom was established by Marcus von Westwick in 2022 after learning about micronations from his friend Davy Von Hope. On 1 January 2022, The Westwick Declaration of Independence was officially published following the self coronation of the Kingdom.
Government
The Kingdom of Westwick is a unitary state under an absolute monarchy. King Marcus von Westwick is the monarch and head of state of Westwick. As Monarch, the King holds the most absolute executive, legislative, and judicial powers. He can not be held accountable to any members of the government.
