Madhya Prant (Hindi: मध्य प्रांत, Bengali: মধ্যপ্রান্ত, literally province/territory in the heart of the city) is a state and administrative division in the central region of Vishwamitra. It was formed as an union territory of "Central Guwahati" on 18 September 2016 and statehood was granted on 25 February 2017 and the state was renamed to its current name of "Madhya Prant" on 20 July 2019. There are four official languages in the state - English, Hindi, Bengali, and Assamese. Due to the presence of mainly Hindu population in Madhya Prant, the Hindu festivals of Durga Puja, Diwali, Holi and the cultural festival of Bihu are the major festivals observed within the state.
