Marklandic Bureau of Meteorology

The Republic of Markland's Bureau of Meteorology (or Weather Bureau) is the head of weather tracking and predicting for the Republic. The Weather Bureau receives doppler radar images from the United States' National Weather Service offices in Pendleton, Oregon; Spokane, Washington; and San Angelo, TX (Dyess AFB, TX doppler radar). President Mark Ingalls is at the head of this bureau.

History

The Bureau of Meteorology was formed out of Federal Act 1C on 5 January 2010.

Weather Alerts

The Weather Bureau issues watches, warnings, and advisories for three warning areas.

The warning areas are as follows:

• Southland Province
• Tri-Cities area (Capitol and Stewart provinces and Bateman, Harbor, and Ingalls territories)
• Winthrop Province

Rules for Issuance

• If there is more than a 50% chance of the event happening, than there will be a watch issued within 48 hours of the event and a warning within 24 hours of the event.
• If there is a 30-50% chance of the event happening, than there will be an advisory issued within 48 hours of the event, and a watch within 24 hours of the event.
• There be few advisories issued if there is less than a 30% chance of the event happening.

The exceptions are:

• Tornado Warnings (when the National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning for the adjacent area, doppler radar is indicating a tornado heading for the area, or locals have indicated that there is a tornado nearby)

• Tornado Watches (within 3 hours of a line of thunderstorms that has previously prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Tornado Warning)

• Severe T-Storm Warnings (when the National Weather Service has issued a Severe T-Storm Warning for the adjacent area or locals have indicated that there are severe conditions nearby)

• Severe T-Storm Watches (within 3 hours of a line of thunderstorms that has previously prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Severe T-Storm Warning)

• Flash Flood Warning (when the National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for the adjacent area or locals have indicated that there is flooding nearby)

• Flash Flood Watch (within 3 hours of a line of thunderstorms that has previously prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Flash Flood Warning)

• Volcanic Ashfall Watches and Warnings (to be issued downwind of a volcanic eruption, soon after the volcano erupts)

• Fire Warning (to be issued if there is a wildfire within 5 miles of the warning area)
