Matthew Hughes, 1st Duke of Wirthgrad CKE GFP is a Kapresh soldier, holding the rank of Colonel in the Kapresh Royal Army. He also serves in the Parliament of Kapreburg.

Activities and interests

Music

Matthew is a connoisseur of country music. Some of his favorite artists are Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, and Marty Robbins. His favorite album is Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs by Marty Robbins. He also enjoys bossa nova, classical, and folk music.

Sports

Matthew's favorite sport is NASCAR. He is a fan of NASCAR because his grandfather and uncle used to race at local short tracks. His favorite NASCAR driver is Ryan Blaney. Matthew also enjoys watching baseball. His favorite major league team is the Chicago Cubs and his favorite frontier league team is the Windy City Thunderbolts. Additionally, he is on the varsity bowling team for his high school.

Nemean games

Matthew Hughes competed in his first Nemean Games in 2023. Matthew played under Kapreburg at the Nemean Games, bringing home 2 golds and 1 silver medal. He brought home gold in bowling and archery, his silver was for soccer.

Micronational career

Hughes was introduced to micronationalism by close friend, Jackson I in around 2021. He joined the Kapresh navy and accompanied Jackson on expeditions in the woods and to Charriot's Creek.

Military career

Hughes was originally enlisted in the Kapresh navy in early 2021, and helped with different jobs when needed. On 8 May 2021, Hughes fought in the Battle of Whynofly, and devised a strategy to fake a surrender, which won them the battle. For his service in this battle, he was promoted to Colonel on 23 August 2021. He continued doing drill and other military exercises with the army, and helped to establish Fort Koff. Throughout the beginning of 2022 he fought in the Midlothian War.

Political career

On 16 June 2021, Hughes was granted a lordship in Kapreburg. This automatically entered him into the House of Lords, upon the passing of the 2022 constitution. He ran for Prime Minister of Kapreburg in the 2023 election and won. He selected Aidan Urquizo as his Deputy. On 2 January 2024, when Aidan McGrath was granted peerage, and also membership in the House of Lords, he called a vote of no confidence against the Hughes administration. The vote passed on 23 January, and McGrath was sworn in on 2 February.
