Maximilian Jerome Kasbar, commonly known as Max Kasbar (Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, 27 January 1997), is a Kuhugi politician, serving as Prime Minister of the Republic of Kuhugstan. He is widely known in the micronational community as the founder and King of the now-defunct Kingdom of Istoria, reigning as its monarch from 2009 to 2011.
Following the disestablishment of Istoria and prior to the creation of Republican Kugustan, Kasbar created Natlandism, a totalitarian political theory based on "a mixture of capitalism and communism". Following the Natlantist ideology, he founded the short-lived Natlandist People's Directory of Istoria, which he led as Executive Director from June 16 to July 9, and as Dictator until August 30, 2011.
Kasbar's leadership as both monarch and Natlandist politician is considered controversial outside of Kuhugstan. Events such as his declarations against recreational drugs, smoking, beans, homosexuality, and influential micronations, or in favour of capital punishment (some of these statements later retracted), garnered intermicronational attention. While Kasbar remains a controversial micronationalist outside the Spokane Sector, he is ranked as the most active and popular leader in said area, with some foreign micronationalists criticising his marginalisation from the MicroWiki Sector. Once, Matthew Burklandssen referred to him as "the biggest a*****e in his enemies' eyes"
Micronational career
Max Kasbar was the head of many unknown micronations in the late 2000's, & before Istoria, he was President of Kirissa until November 1rst, 2009. After Kirissa, he was King of Istoria until 2011, when the short-lived Natlandist regime took over, & it soon collapsed, leading him to declare the independence of Kuhugstan on July 9, 2011.
Ancestry
Kasbar was born and raised in the United States, but claims to have European ancestors. While asserting to have origins from several areas of the old Continent (namely Norway, Denmark, Germany, England, Ireland, Wales, Yugoslavia and Armenia), Kasbar claims to have also Native American origins, with ancestors in French Canada.
Kasbar's supposed ancestry is varied and includes numerous notable personalities. In particular, Kasbar has declared to be the descendent of Manley Natland, a petroleum geologist who worked in the Californian oil industry and led numerous expeditions in Saudi Arabia.[1][2] It is supposed that the term Natlandism has originated from his name.
Other possible ancestors include James Smithson, founder of the Smithsonian Institution and the House of Percy. In all cases, however, Kasbar was unable to provide evidence of his claims.
Personal life
Max Kasbar was grown up in a sedevacanist Traditional Catholic environment & knows Protestant conservatives, even though he was exposed to liberal ideas.
He also works out at the Spokane Central YMCA.
