Elections
The Mayor of Night City is elected by Night City residents every one to two years (term lengths are set by the Night City Council at the start of each term).
Powers and Functions
The Mayor's main functions are:
- Strategic planning, including housing, waste management and the environment,
- Refuse or permit planning permission on strategic grounds,
- Transport policy,
- Fire and emergency planning,
- Policing and crime policy, delivered by functional body Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime,
- Economic development,
- Power to create development corporations.
Seat in Parliament
As well as being Chair of the Night City Council and Mayor of Night City the Mayor may also be the Member of Parliament for Night City in the House of Ministers as long as they are elected in a general election and there is nobody else holding either role.
