The Ministry of National Development (Hindi: राष्ट्रीय विकास मंत्रालय‎) is a ministry in the government of Vishwamitra which is responsible for the direction, formulation and implementation of policies related to arts and sciences, culture and national heritage, media and broadcasting, education, environment and publication in Vishwamitra and is also responsible for the affairs of the Vishwamitran Patent Office.

The ministry was first formed on 6 August 2019 during a cabinet reshuffle and was responsible for implementation of plans and policies in the nation and replaced the duties of the former Ministry of Programme Implementation. The ministry was abolished on 18 March 2023 and was re-created on 12 August 2023 as a result of the merger of the individual ministries of Culture, Education, Environment and Natural Resources, and Information and Broadcasting, thus becoming one of the bulk ministries of the government.

The Ministry of National Development is headed by the Minister of National Development which is a cabinet rank minister and is occassionally assisted by a junior minister or the Minister of State for National Development. The first minister was Arnab Sil who served in 2019, while the current minister is Jayden Dagsa since 12 August 2023.

History

The Ministry of National Development was established on 6 August 2019 during a cabinet reshuffle after the abolition of the Ministry of Programme Implementation. At the time of its inception, the ministry was tasked with the responsibilities to formulate and plan policies and programmes for the development of the nation. The ministry was abolished on 18 March 2023.

The ministry was re-created on 12 August 2023 after the merger of the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. As a result of the merger of some of the most important ministries, the Ministry of National Development emerged as one of the most important and bulk ministries of the government.

  • Department of Environment
  • Department of Public Relations
  • Vishwamitran Patent Office

The Department of Culture, Education, Broadcasting, Environment and Public Relations were formerly independent ministries and were combined together to constitute the ministry.
